1,000 Uniforms

Uniforms for Hope, once again, blessed CCDO with uniforms for 1,000 students.

CCDO staff worked with the Department of Education in Siem Reap province to find the poorest kids who most needed a (mandatory) uniform to attend school. We reached out to 105 primary schools to choose students for new uniforms and shoes.

Sotr Nikum district had 417 students in 50 schools. Prasath Bakong district had 150 students in 16 schools. There were 120 students coming from 8 schools in Angkor Thom and 313 students from 31 schools in Puok district. It’s always heartwarming to see the kids show so much pride and joy. CCDO visited the homes of some of the children and you can see how sparsely they live. A huge shout out to Maureen Maloof of Uniforms for Hope and her generous sponsors.

Visitors

Together We Can Change The World (TWCCTW) led by Scott Friedman & Steve Tillis paid a quick visit to Siem Reap. Just in the prior months, they donated 12 water wells and have sponsored our Dental Hygiene Program. They were Interested to observe the comprehensive dental hygiene program both at schools and in the community.

We were honored to host Vivian Choi and Bonnie Wong from Rotary Club Hong Kong Central, who have been sponsoring our Breakfast Program at Bongkong Primary School for the past 4 years. Even though it was school holidays, Gnab Nue, Operations Manager of CCDO, managed to arrange a visit to the school to see the breakfast facility and meet with the teachers. The generous Rotarians came with a group of 30 people and the school visit certainly made an unforgettable impression, especially on the children in their group. It gave them an idea of how other people live who don’t have air-con or restaurants nearby.

Our English Language Teaching Program (ELTP) is sponsored by Child’s Dream Cambodia and they have been generously donating to this program for the past 6 years.

Their Siem Reap team with Ratha & Phirum, meets regularly with the CCDO education team to discuss the broad and fine details of the program.

Staff News

In celebration of CCDO’s new internal restructure, our staff went on a one day retreat to Kulen Mountain, about 2 hours drive from Siem Reap. The team had many challenges with climbing the mountain, playing team games and of course, a barbeque picnic. It was a very special bonding experience for all of them.

Behind our achievements at the CCDO is a small team with very big hearts. Their dedication, passion, and tireless hard work drive everything we do!

A little time to rest, reflect, recharge, and reconnect in the beauty of Cambodia — they’ve more than earned it.

Here’s to the heart of CCDO — our people.
