Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Listen to Talk D93 Podcast
Episode 2:
Dual Language Program!
CCSD93's Dual Language program teaches students to become fluent in both English and Spanish. I invite you to learn more about the Dual Language program by listening to the latest episode of Talk D93, CCSD93's official podcast. In it, I sit down with CCSD93 Director of English Language Services Mireya Sanchez to talk about the program, its history, how students can enroll in the program, methods for instruction, what students can expect, and more!

I especially encourage parents of incoming kindergarteners to give it a listen to find out more and consider enrolling their child in the invaluable program for next school year.

You can listen to it online at www.ccsd93.com/TalkD93 or by searching "Talk D93" on your favorite podcast platform. Here are direct links to Talk D93 on Apple PodcastsSpotify, and Google Podcasts. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a thing!
Please be sure to read the following articles to keep up with the latest from CCSD93, and stay safe this weekend!

Sincerely,

David H. Hill, Ed.D.

New Unified Sports Program Brings Students Together Under Common Goals
For the first time ever, CCSD93 is bringing together students with disabilities and students without to form a Unified Sports basketball team at each middle school that will eventually compete against other area schools!

The coed teams have begun weekly practices and are working towards a culminating tournament at Jay Stream on February 22 that will feature 11 middle schools, official referees and scorekeeping. The goal is for students to grow their basketball skills and abilities, camaraderie with one another, and leadership skills.

The basketball season is just the beginning, as CCSD93 hopes to expand offerings to additional sport seasons, with eyes on track, soccer, and more. Find out more by watching the video linked above.

Board Retreat Focuses on
Achievement/Opportunity Gap
Last Saturday, January 11, CCSD93 Superintendent Dr. David Hill, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services Dr. Crysta Morrissey, and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning & Innovation Jonathan Zimmermann joined CCSD93's Board of Education members for a "Board Retreat" that focused on providing the Board members with more information on the achievement/opportunity gap.

Board members were provided with academic, social/emotional, and attendance data from a national, state, and local perspective. The event also offered Board members an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of the strategies CCSD93's educators use to provide an excellent educational experience for all students in accordance with CCSD93's Mission of maximizing the academic, social and emotional potential of each student.
