Aiken Chamber Director of Membership Services, Jim Tunison reported over 52,000 tickets were given out during the campaign representing over $1.3 million in sales in the 32 local participating businesses.
The BUY AIKEN – RED TICKET campaign urged shoppers to spend money in Aiken, and rewarded shoppers and store owners with the chance to win cash prizes. |
|
The Aiken Chamber of Commerce recently announced its leadership team for the upcoming year. A diverse, dynamic group, the board of directors represents a cross section of the Chamber membership and offers a broad perspective on business and community related matters. These leaders will work throughout the year in guiding the organization to create viable, proactive mechanisms that become a driving force for Aiken’s prosperity in the 21st century.

A big impact, but how big?
|
|
The impact of the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site (SRS) on our region is unquestionable. It is big, but how big?
Most folks know it is the Aiken area’s largest employer and is a key component to the Aiken economy, but attendees of the Aiken Chamber’s January First Friday Means Business breakfast will know a whole lot more.
Rick McLeod, president/CEO of the SRS Community Reuse Organization, will present the Savannah River Site Economic Impact Study commissioned by the organization at the breakfast. McLeod will review the report which goes beyond the number of jobs and delves into the ripple effect of those jobs locally and includes estimates of direct, indirect, and induced impacts of the Site on the 5 county-region.
In addition to being well informed about the impact of SRS, attendees will also receive valuable information and updates from Aiken County, the City of Aiken, the Aiken Chamber and from the January First Friday Means Business sponsor AT&T.
The monthly breakfast will occur Friday, January 7, at Newberry Hall from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Members that wish to attend should register here.
