Practicing Hope on Purpose:

Salt and Light

Matthew 5:13-16

This Sunday we celebrate Stewardship Consecration Sunday, gathering around Jesus’ call to be salt and light for the life of the world. As you come forward for Communion, you are invited to bring your 2026 pledge card and a written hope for our ministry. Together, we will place them before God – simple offerings of gratitude and trust – as we practice hope on purpose and renew our shared commitment for the year ahead.

And hope will not end at the table. During Coffee Hour, learn some playful ways to build solidarity as we get ready for our next protest. Try on a (provided!) dinosaur suit and learn the FCC-original Morrison Formation Dino Dance.

HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND

Intercambio Movie Invitation

Today, 1:00-3:00 p.m. | Boulder Library Canyon Theater

Join our mission partner Intercambio for a reception and screening of the movie Resettled at the Boulder Library’s Canyon Theater on Jan. 30, 1:00-3:00 p.m. More than 63 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide. As wars, famine, and political instability drive this crisis, it’s easy to feel powerless. Resettled shows another path – how the residents of Clarkston, Georgia welcome refugees and build a thriving community together. A truly uplifting movie and FREE for all!

Forum: Capital Campaign Possibility

Sunday, 2/1, 9:00 a.m. | Standish Room

A Capital Campaign is a fund-raising effort, typically spread over two to three years, that is separate from our annual stewardship efforts and has a specific goal and purpose. We are exploring a campaign that would boost our Capital Needs Endowment. This would ultimately enable us to fund a larger portion of our annual facilities expenses from Endowment revenue, thereby relieving pressure on our annual pledging. To learn more, please join the Capital Campaign Feasibility Committee for the Adult Forum on February 1 at 9:00 a.m. in the Standish Room.

Symposium on Spirituality & the Environment

Sunday, 2/1, at 1:30 p.m. | Har Hashem Sanctuary – Register

At this year’s Symposium Rev. Dr. Allen Ewing-Merrill, Executive Director of The BTS Center, will invite us to explore the psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of the climate crisis, the array of climate emotions – climate anxiety, ecological grief, moral injury, and solastalgia – as well as the invitation to practices of gratitude, wonder, and hope. We’ll consider how Creation invites us into relationship as healer, teacher, and friend. Register here.
