| | New Mural at Academic Magnet Honors the Memory of Mr. Tyson McCormick | | |
During the teacher workday on Monday, a tribute event was held as the Academic Magnet teachers and staff remembered Tyson McCormick, a beloved party of their AMHS family who passed away last year after a courageous battle with cancer. The event was an opportunity to remember Mr. McCormick and view the new mural painted in the science hall entrance of building 7 to honor his memory.
A warm thank you to artist, Matteo Miles for designing and painting this amazing piece of art! You can check out more of Mr. Miles' art on his website: https://www.matteom.com/, and also check out this short time-lapse video of his work on the mural. The mural reflects the memory of the many biology field trips to Florida that Mr. McCormick led each year with the freshman class at AMHS that provided an opportunity to explore the wonders of the ocean and marine life.
As a reminder, a scholarship for students seeking to participate in educational travel abroad that the Academic Magnet Foundation is managing in his honor. Learn more and find out how to donate here: Raptor Explorer Award
