Artisan&Art Fairs at Abrams Claghorn Gallery

Our August Edition will showcase 20 local vendors and live music by local band The Bassments at 1pm.

SWAP! 2.0 is happening Thursday, August 27th from 11am–2pm at Abrams Claghorn Gallery, 1251 Solano Ave at Masonic, Albany CA.

This is about community as much as it is about exchanging supplies - from each according to your ability, to each according to your needs. Come and share your old stuff, pick up some new-to-you supplies, meet other makers, and enjoy our crafty community!

We require that all makers who choose to donate supplies register here so we know what to expect - we prefer that you stay and distribute your items for the entirety of the event, but its ok if would just like to drop off a few treasures.

Artist Statement

"Creating a painting is a bit like a walk in the woods for me. I approach my art with a sense of adventure, using experimental techniques along with tried-and-true methods. My curiosity drives me, and I’m always hoping for a surprising and delightful discovery. A key component of my art is the use of monoprints created using a gel plate. I create prints on translucent papers with plants that I encounter on my walks and other adventures. Using these prints and multiple layers of both clear and pigmented paint, my mixed media works celebrate both the wonder of art making and the beauty of nature. I hope this exhibit encourages you to take a closer look at both art and nature – and perhaps inspires you to notice something new growing by the side of your next trail (or sidewalk).  " - Lucy Ames

Sunday Figure Salon

Sundays 5-8pm

This class focuses on gestural drawing with charcoals.

With the expert tutelage of Pickles Taylor, the class will begin with ten 2-minute poses, then four five minute poses, ending with 20-minute poses. The emphasis is on gesture drawing, making it a great chance to loosen up your sketching skills and capture dynamic movement.

The class is open to all levels, including beginners—everyone is welcome!

Please note that participants must be 18 or older to attend.

Charcoals, paper, and drawing boards will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favorite materials if you'd like.

We encourage you to register in advance to secure your spot.

Fridays from 6-9pm

A Weekly Open Figure Drawing Session

 We’re focusing on quick poses, 10 2minute, four 5minute, etc. up to 20 minute poses. Judgment free zone- all skill levels welcome!

The gallery will provide chairs and tables. Easels on request.

Bring your own paper, pencils, pens, etc.

Snacks and water will be served.

Space is limited.

Please register in advance.

Along with running Abrams Claghorn Gallery, I also am the co-owner and an instructor at Amphora Ceramic Studio in San Rafael. Our next session of 6-week classes starts next week.
