Hey everyone —
You've done it! I’m excited to announce a huge milestone for our global community: we’ve hit 10,000 members worldwide with PD Avengers!
A wholehearted thank-you to each of you — whether you’re living with Parkinson’s, caring for someone who is, advocating, sharing your story, working with the community, volunteering your time or talent, or supporting from afar.
Reaching 10,000 members isn’t just a number. It means 10,000 voices, 10,000 stories, 10,000 “super powers” combined in this effort to end Parkinson’s. Every one of you amplifies the message: this disease matters, and our time to act is now. As shared in our mission, “We unite voices, fuel science, and challenge the status quo."
And here’s what’s next: Next stop — 100,000 members worldwide.
Why? Because every extra person in this movement adds not just numbers but energy, ideas, reach, and possibility. We’re scaling not just in size but in impact.
Here’s how we’ll ride this momentum:
-
Hire a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator -- this will help put PD Avengers into action who are ready.
-
Grow our board of directors -- going from three to six people.
-
Name Medical Advisors -- officially adding Michael Okun, MD and Ray Dorsey, MD as the PD Avengers medical advisors.
-
Amplify local voices — Our think global, act local philosophy in action -- so every community feels empowered to advocate for services needs, and policy.
-
Raise higher stakes — With 10,000 behind us, we’ll present bigger policy asks, push larger-scale research partnerships and deepen our wellness programs.
-
Celebrate you — Over the coming weeks we’ll spotlight member stories from across the globe, to showcase the diversity, passion and power in this movement.
To start off, we celebrate Michelle Garrett from Seattle, who attended the YOPD-Con this past weekend and then sang a beautiful song in dedication to PD Avengers and advocates everywhere.
