Kol Hakavod

Here are some Kol Hakavods from our community:

  • Whoever is brewing the staff lounge coffee first thing in the morning.
  • Ms. Chun for letting us use her room for studying.
  • The yearbook squad! Thank you for all of your hard work and perseverance in photographing, writing, and designing the spreads for the yearbook!

Ram's Eye View

In this issue of Ram’s Eye View, we’ve been charging ahead with an exciting week here at Kehillah!

Thank you for attending Kehillah's Evening of Gratitude & Growth! Together, we celebrated the dedicated service of retiring board member Larry Schlenoff and expressed our gratitude for his unwavering support. We were thrilled to have our faculty, board members, parents, and community members gathered with us as we honored our board members and shared exciting updates about Kehillah’s future.

Earlier on that same Saturday, Digital Media Teacher Karla Chouhan and the Publications Class attended NorCal Media Day at Palo Alto High School. The Publications Class had the opportunity to attend sessions and learn about crafting a compelling feature story to selling an advertisement, and designing captivating visual narratives. It was an inspiring day of learning and creativity for our students!

On Monday morning, our Rams came together in a warm and reflective gathering to welcome Rosh Hashanah with challah bread and honey (thank you to our Kehillah Parent Association!). In the spirit of community and tradition, our students reflected on the significance of the holiday, focusing on themes of renewal, growth, and intention-setting for the year ahead. Wishing everyone a Shanah Tovah—a happy, healthy, and sweet new year! We look forward to seeing you all when you return.

Before You Go...

A Rosh Hashanah story from Caryn Wasserstein, the KPA Chair

Shanah Tovah/Happy New Year from KPA. We hope your family enjoys the honey your child(ren) brought home with them this week from last Friday's Rosh Hashanah assembly.

In 1985, my family moved from Connecticut to Marin County, CA right before the High Holidays. We were invited to a Rosh Hashanah dinner by a colleague of my father's. There we saw our very first icing and sprinkle challah. We were shocked to say the least. We had never seen a sweet New Year celebrated in such a way. What was so foreign then has become our annual practice. If you would like to explore this tradition, I highly recommend the icing/sprinkle challah from Copenhagen Bakery in Burlingame.
