This Week's Program
Silent Auction Baskets

If you have a basket or items for a basket to donate for the silent auction for Epicurean Rendezvous, please bring everything to club this Wednesday, October 2.  We will happily take extra baskets if you decide to create one last minute! Please include a list of the contents of whatever you are bringing and an approximate value. Also include who should be thanked for the donation.

If you have any questions, contact Bonnie, Lupe or Roseann.

Thank-you very much everyone!!

Dear SI Chico,

We need your help. Our one and only fundraiser of the year is two short weeks away. We have more than 100 tickets left to sell. We are asking each and every member to help. Though we all want fliers and Facebook to sell our tickets, these means alone just aren't doing the trick. We all need to dig deeper, get a little uncomfortable and MAKE PHONE CALLS.

Will you each please think of two people in your circle of friends and contacts that you can call, tell about our event and invite? Call your real estate agent, your financial advisor, a friend who owns a business and could treat some top employees to this special event as a reward...talk to people at your bank...or your neighbor who is a foodie and would love this evening. These are the phone calls, direct contact calls or in person visits that we need. Please please please commit to doing this in the name of all of the good work we do each year. We have complete faith that this group is capable of selling this event out, but it will take all of us trying together.

Here are some great talking points about the event;

*Over 17 spectacular wineries and Secret Trail Brewery

*Delectable food all night starting with small bites, moving into bigger tastes and small entrée's at dinner and ending with an unforgettable dessert extravaganza. All created by the amazing Chef Ann Leon

*The venue will be transformed with beautiful décor and lighting that will set the mood for making great memories

*An array of wonderful silent auction baskets and items and a live auction of some very special items not to be missed

*All this fun will be had in the name of raising funds for all the good Soroptimist International of Chico has done in our community for 90 years!! Celebrate and contribute with us.

Thanks to you all!

Bonnie, Lupe and The Fundraising Committee

*Consider offering to deliver tickets to help people who you approach, avoid online purchase service fees

*Ticket sales will close on October 10

October Member of the month, Margarita Vega

I was born on November 13th, 1979, at Sutter Memorial in Sacramento, CA. I was born and raised in Northern California, from Sacramento to Paradise, then Chico. I'm the oldest of six, five girls and one boy, we all live in Chico. I have several children myself, two girls, one boy and four Shih Tzu's. I graduated as a student of the year in 1998 from Ridgeview High in Magalia.

In 2003, I got a job at La Hacienda. I started as a host, moved up to serving, and after one year, I worked my way into management. In 2011, myself and two others were given the opportunity to buy La Hacienda. I genuinely love what I do, and all the kids from (18-24) we employ are MY kids we're FAMILY. I get to see them grow and mature into young adults.

My most significant accomplishments are my kids; I have raised two well-rounded young women. Edward's only three so he has a way to go, but he knows to say thank you, please, excuse me, and of course the word us moms all love NO!

Fun facts you didn't know about me:
  • Mosquito's, to my itchy misfortune, absolutely adore my scent. With me around, everyone else is safe.
  • My favorite food is pizza ( major weakness)
  • I primarily write in cursive. A teacher once described my handwriting as "beautifully neat from afar, but illegible up close."
  • I love laughing so hard that it spurns on tears, causing my hidden abs to spasm, which results in shortness of breath. Laughing truly is the best medicine.
  • My favorite person to scare is my sister, Gabby. She has a fear of porcelain dolls, and I own several.
Congratulations Margarita for being our member of the month!
