Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,
I would like to say thank you to all the families and Swisher employees that volunteered for Morning Star’s "Fall Campus Clean-Up" this past Saturday. We had a huge turnout. Your hard work is very appreciated. Our grounds look clean and beautiful! Thank you once again.
We are halfway through October and looking forward to our October 30th Fall Fun Day. If you have not done so already, please log onto Sign-up Genius to see what you can donate for Fun Day.
Mass is this Thursday. Please remember it will be live streamed at 10:00 am for all to participate and enjoy.
We end the first nine weeks of school this week. Report cards will be emailed out on Friday. These first nine weeks have been many things: a blessing, hard work, joyful, and full of many changes. Let us continue this momentum straight through the first semester.
Peace,

Donate Towards our Teacher Wish List!
|
|

Our teachers and staff need many items the school just cannot afford. And in a pandemic economy, with many unexpected expenses, the needs are even greater. If you would like to help, please make a monetary donation or purchase a 'Wish List" item as a gift to a teacher. You can mail your check or item to the school or drop off your donated item(s) at the front office. All wish list items have been specifically requested by teachers. Please check with individual teachers if you require more details. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We are very appreciative!

Celebrating Birthdays at School
|
|
|
Students may bring in individually wrapped store bought snacks to celebrate birthdays such as Little Debbie Snack cakes. If snacks are brought in that are not store bought and/or individually wrapped, they will be returned home. Please understand the importance of these guidelines. As always, contact your child’s teacher before sending in a birthday treat. If you would prefer your child not eat treats sent in by his/her classmates, please send your child’s teacher a note and explain this to your child.

-
All students may wear a costume to school. Costumes must be school appropriate-no gory, scary, or inappropriate costumes will be permitted. If your child prefers not to wear a costume, he or she may dress in orange and black.
-
Activities will be planned throughout the day. Students will remain with their class, keeping cohorts together during activities. It will not be a whole school event as it has been in the past.
-
Our everyday health and safety guidelines will be followed during this event. Any snacks or drinks provided will be store-bought and individually pre-packaged. Students will collect candy and trinkets throughout the day. Teachers typically allow students to eat one or two pieces of candy, and the rest is sent home. If you would prefer your child not partake in the snacks provided, please email your child's teacher and send in separate snacks for your child for this day.
-
If your child is remote learning during the 2nd nine weeks, we will have a packet for them so he or she can partake in activities as well. Packets may be picked up on Wednesday, 10/28 or Thursday, 10/29 during school hours (8am-3pm). If you need to pick up after that, after school is until 6pm, but please reach out to us and let us know if you are coming during after school care hours.

High School students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month last week by learning how Spanish speakers around the country are recognized by their achievements to improve our lives in the United States. They talked about the first Spanish speaking, female astronaut, Ellen Ochoa. The students also decorated their masks with Hispanic symbols. They all had fun.

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER...
- Turn in your box tops weekly. They do expire.
- Be sure to NOT cut the code off. We cannot use it if the code is missing even one of the digits
- Place them in a zip lock bag and send them in with your student.
Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts! Questions? Please reach out to Jackie Rodriguez, our Home & School Box Tops Coordinator at jaco_rodriguez@yahoo.com
