Lyons Township High School is excited to host virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 29th. Conferences will be available via Google Meet, with the option to join by phone. Conferences will begin at 4:00pm and conclude at 9:00pm. Each conference will be a maximum of 8 minutes in duration in order to maximize the number of individual conferences that can be accommodated. The ultimate goal of Parent/Teacher Conferences is to continue to foster a collaborative partnership between parents/guardians and staff at LTHS.
Parents/guardians should have received an email from PowerPTC on October 1st with a personalized activation code which enables them to create their PowerPTC account and sign up for appointments when the window opens.
The online sign-up window for families opened on Friday, October 2nd at 8:00am and will close on Friday, October 16th. For those who do not wish to utilize the online service and for those needing language assistance, phone call requests will be taken on Tuesday, October 13th between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:30pm only. Please call 708-579-6785 and ask for Parent/Teacher Conference reservation requests. These requests by phone will be entered into the reservation request system by school personnel. Winter Sports Registration
Winter sports registration is now open on our Athletics Webpage. All students wishing to participate in athletics must have a current physical on file and complete the athletic online registration on the team’s page. The Athletic Department requires each participant to complete the online registration for each sport season. This ensures the safety of the athlete, and also updates the athletic eligibility files. Questions regarding tryouts should be directed to head coaches; general questions about LTHS Athletics should be directed to John Grundke, Athletic Director.

Vaping Update and Resources for Families
As the end of the first quarter comes to an end this week, I wanted to remind our students and families that the use of vapes, nicotine and THC, are strictly prohibited on campus and during school events. In addition to utilizing our Student Assistants (security staff) to help monitor bathrooms, we also utilize vape detectors in restrooms as another method of deterring instances of vaping on our campuses.
I am sharing the vaping presentation that Dr. Weiner, a board-certified psychologist and a past president of The Society of Addiction Psychology previously shared with our school community. Dr.Weiner is a clinician, author, consultant, and national speaker on issues related to addiction prevention, treatment, and public health policy.
I am also including some resources for parents/guardians. It is important that we partner in educating students about the dangers of vaping

On Thursday, October 15, LT is partnering with the Cook County Clerk's Office to host early voting at North Campus Library Room A. LT students and staff who will be 18 on or before the General Election (November 3, 2026) will have an opportunity to vote early through their Social Studies class or during their lunch/study. In order to vote, one must:
- Be born in the United States or be a naturalized citizen
- Reside in suburban Cook County
- Be registered to vote. If you have previously registered, you do not need to bring an ID to vote (your identity will be verified when you sign a document to ensure that your signature matches the voter signature on file for you).
End of the Semester/Final Exam (December 16-18) Information
I also wanted to share some important end-of-the-semester information:
- LTHS will implement a special final exam bell schedule for the final three days (December 16-18) of the semester. We will share the link to the schedule in the near future.
- There is no Late Start on the Wednesday of the last week of the semester (Wednesday, December 16). The 2nd period exam period starts at 7:45am on December 16.
- While final exams will be mandatory, course teams will have four options for administering the exams. Regardless of the option the course team chooses, students are expected to be on campus and in class for each final exam period.
- Please note that the syllabus for each course outlines the teacher’s plan with relation to final exams. All courses will have a final exam. The following are the options that teacher teams have with relation to final exams (Dual credit classes are exempt from these options as each college/university dictates the form of the final exam):
- Cumulative Final Exam
- Summative Final Exam
- Final Project or Performance
- Retake, Revision, or Reflection
Please note: There are no retake/revision opportunities for any of the final exam options.
Specific information about the final exam that will be implemented within each course will be communicated by each individual teacher as the end of the semester approaches.
