MILTON THEATRE BRINGS HOME MULTIPLE AWARDS AT GEORGIA THEATRE CONFERENCE!
Congratulations to the cast, crew, and directors (David Hopkins and Sim Jones) of "CRUSH" for winning multiple awards and receiving all SUPERIOR RATINGS at Georgia Theatre Conference (GTC) this past weekend in Americus, Georgia. Milton won for both LEADING ACTRESS awards (Sarah Charles Lewis, freshman and Sammy Azua, sophomore), ALL-STAR CAST (Lisa O'Brien, senior and Parker Mitchell, freshman) and TECH COSTUME QUICK CHANGE (Carly Foskey, senior). They were also given a nice shout-out for COSTUMES!
This show served as half of the company members' first Milton production of the season (SHENANDOAH up next...Oct 23-24, 7:00PM). During the GTC adjudication, judges commented on the outstanding tech crew, excellent choreography (Olivia Owens, senior), exceptional vocals and succeeding in the execution of an emotionally powerful show! Another component of GTC is the opportunity to audition for thirteen colleges. Three of our senior actors participated in this (Addi Bendall, Lisa O'Brien and Blake Kerzie) and each was selected by nearly all of the schools doing screenings to return for callbacks. It was a great weekend for Milton!

Big races from sophomore Jessica Albregts (42nd-20:44) and senior Ella Langley (43rd-20:49) helped Milton secure the 3rd place spot.
VARSITY BOYS

PARENTS NIGHT OUT #2BOYSBBALL
Basketball season is upon us - and Fall Weather is as well - and we are looking forward to your support of the Milton Eagles Boys Basketball program. Our team starts practice next Monday - October  21 - and our team can't wait to get to work for the upcoming season. Furthermore, our team is looking forward to building relationships with the community, and ending the first week of practice by hanging and having some fun with your kids.
Friday, October 25: We are going to offer our 2nd PARENTS NIGHT OUT. Drop your kids (Ages Kindergarten to 8th grade) off at the Main Milton HS Gym - and we will work with them on basketball skills and drills, as well as have them participate in contests and even play some 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 games. Furthermore, we will feed them pizza and have movies at the end of the night. We will run the event from 6:00 to 10:00PM on Friday, October 25.
(The Milton Football team is on the road at Forsyth Central)
The Varsity Milton HS Boys basketball players will assist the Milton Varsity Coaching staff in running the night, and your kids will be supervised the entire time in the gym.
Open to Boys and Girls - Ages Kindergarten to 8th grade.
Take a night off - enjoy yourself at some of our fine Milton area restaurants and let the basketball team/staff take care of your kids for a few hours - as well as support the program.  Let us know if you have questions.
The cost is just $50 per kid (only $40 for each additional sibling) - and you can sign up on our website at www.miltoneagleshoops.com

FCS CALENDAR UPDATECALENDAR
Fulton County Schools has updated the calendar for the 2019-20 school year.  Fulton County School Board approved making April 21, 2020, and May 19, 2020, " Digital Learning Days " for students while maintaining them as regular work days for employees. A Digital Learning Day is an opportunity for students to engage in off-site learning instead of attending school.
Since April 21 and May 19 are state-wide election days, there is high-volume participation of the public at polling stations located in our schools, and this increases the potential for security concerns. By utilizing digital learning activities, students will be able to maintain their focus on instruction even though they are not on campus. This also allows staff the opportunity to participate in high-quality professional development to deepen their knowledge and skills.
Here is a summary of the recent calendar adjustments:
  • March 13, 2020 remains a teacher workday.
  • March 24, 2020 (GA Presidential primary election) will be a teacher workday.
  • April 21, 2020 (state-wide election) will be a student Digital Learning Day and a teacher professional development day.
  • May 19, 2020 (state-wide election) will be a student Digital Learning Day and a teacher professional development day.
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility.

STUDENT CHECK-OUT PROCEDURECHECKOUT
PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
This is a friendly reminder that to check a student out of school:
  • The student must bring a written note from the parent or legal guardian to the attendance office in the morning to receive a pass out of class.
  • This note should include the student's name, grade, reason for dismissal, and the time the parent or guardian will pick the student up.
  • We cannot accept phone calls or emails to check students out.

If an early dismissal note is not provided in the morning:

  • A student may be called to the front office for check-out only when the parent/guardian or emergency contact arrives in the front office with a government issued ID (driver's license, passport, Fulton County employee ID).
  • You may be asked to wait until a class change to check out your child.
Your cooperation with this procedure is requested as it minimizes interruptions to classroom instruction.
