October is for Hope, Joy, and Wonder!
|
|
Head's Note
This month's virtues of Hope, Joy, and Wonder are some of my favorite in our yearly cycle. A few years ago, I wrote an article about wonder for the Valley News and even to this day, I receive comments about it. To me, these three virtues share the common goal of helping our students to become the best versions of themselves. Defining success around these qualities rather than through grades, salaries, and future job titles may be one of the keys to fostering a happy and fulfilling life. Of course,
students should strive to achieve in all of the areas that are important to them. But a healthy dose of hope, joy, and wonder puts all of the hard work and ambitious goals into a healthier perspective, and one that we try to prioritize for everyone in our community.
Yours truly, Brad

School Announcement System Test
In the event of a school delay, cancellation, or in the unlikely case of an emergency, Crossroads will use a system called "Blackboard Connect" to simultaneously contact all parents and staff through the telephone with a recorded message. We will conduct a test of our school announcement system on
Wednesday, October 23
, during the morning hours. The purpose of this test message is to make sure that we have all phone numbers entered accurately into our system. If you do not receive a phone call, please contact
Darlene Gautreau
or call (603) 795-3111 to be added to this distribution list. We will also send an email reminder from the school prior to our test announcement on Wednesday.
As we head into the late fall and winter, please note that we will do our best to send out notifications of weather-related delays or cancellations by 6:00 am. These decisions are based on the best information we have at that time. Should you need additional time to drive to school because of road conditions in your area, please contact
Darlene Gautreau
and we will excuse your child(ren) for the late arrival. Thank you.

Northern Stage comes to Crossroads
Last Wednesday, Middle School students and faculty enjoyed a performance by Northern Stage's Youth Ensemble Studio (YES). The group included four of our own Middle School students.
The show celebrates the strength and importance of community in White River Junction. The stories were presented through spoken word and music, with live piano and saxophone by local jazz artist, Michael Zsoldos.

Why is Your Participation so Important?
High participation is a huge vote of confidence, an important sign that virtually all parents invest in their children's welfare and support the school's mission. This percentage can also have an impact on gifts from outside sources;
most foundations consider parent participation rates before donating funds to a school.
EVERY GIFT MATTERS.
Help us meet our goal by January 1, 2020
