An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community,

Yesterday was a fun day at our school! Through physical education class, Sr. Watkins and Sra. Huss showed the students around the new playground and talked with them about how to use the equipment. The kids were so excited! Please click HERE for a few photos. Additional work continues outside on the outdoor spaces. We will "debut" the playground during recess today!

It's been a busy week! On Monday, our fifth grades ventured to their second day of environmental camp at Camp Ihduhapi. Despite the rain, they had a wonderful learning experience. It was great to welcome families and author Joseph Kuefler to our school gymnasium on Tuesday night. He also led the students in drawing; it was a lot of fun! Thank you for your continued support of our School Leer-a-tón as we celebrate reading and raise funds for our PTO-funded Amity Intern program. Today, our kindergartners are venturing to the St. Louis Park Public Library.

Tomorrow is our fall party day in our classrooms. It is always exciting to have our community come together to celebrate the first part of the year. Due to our community learning new parking routines, please plan for extra time, as we try to be good neighbors.

We look forward to opening our doors to our larger SLP community this Saturday from 9 am-12 pm for the SLP Parade of Schools. See below for more information.

Have a great week, and keep reading!

PSI Reading FAQ
Learn more about "reading at home," developed by our PSI Steering Committee, comprised of staff members and parents, by clicking HERE.
From Our School Social Worker, Jennifer Gregor
We are in need of small and medium size snow pants and jackets, and waterproof gloves for winter. If you are getting rid of any that are in good shape, please consider bringing them to the PSI office!
Extracurricular Activities
Students who are involved in extracurricular activities—from chess club to cheerleading to chorus—tend to have higher self-esteem and stronger connections to school. But an overloaded schedule with too many activities can have the opposite effect, leaving your child—and you!—stressed. Keep these tips in mind for managing your child’s activity load. From PTO... Fall deadline for Box Tops is TOMORROW - October 25th!

Please send any traditional box tops with your student by October 25th for our fall collection drive!
Over the summer, participating brands began to change their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Going forward, instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt. If you still have traditional Box Tops clips at home, make sure to send them to school. We will still earn cash for all clipped Box Tops until they expire. Better yet, you can “double dip” during the packaging transition by clipping traditional Box Tops AND scanning your store receipt containing participating products. Download the app on iTunes or Google Play. See products & learn more about the box tops app at  BTFE.COM .
Thanks for your efforts in helping our school earn money through the Box Tops program!
