Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Jay Stream Middle School Innovation Center Officially Dedicated!
Last night, the CCSD93 Board of Education held an official Dedication of the newly renovated Innovation Center at Jay Stream Middle School, which opened to students at the start of this school year! Student ambassadors showed off its unique spaces to guests who included leaders of local community organizations, Illinois Congresswoman Diane Pappas, Board of Education members, CCSD93 administrators, and Jay Stream staff members.
The space was intentionally designed, with input from a committee featuring school staff members, district administrators, School Board members, and the project's architect, to ensure students are able to take on relevant educational endeavors now and for years to come. With a focus on flexibility, inspiring colors, natural lighting, and embedded technology, the space fosters greater collaboration and better enables students to learn and apply 21st century skills and abilities, take on computer science activities, and engage in design thinking concepts that their teachers challenge them to take on.

I invite you to take a virtual tour of the space with me, Principal Chris Pietroski, and Innovation Media Specialist Lindsay Kuczek by viewing this video!
Here are images of a few key moments, including Board President Keith Briggs addressing guests.
Please be sure to read the following articles to keep up with the latest from CCSD93. Enjoy your weekend !

Sincerely,

David Hill, Ed.D.

Two Cloverdale Students Recognized as Finalists in International Essay Competition
Fifth graders at Cloverdale Elementary School have been connecting with students across the globe using PenPal Schools, an online space that challenges students to share original writing, read and analyze one anothers' pieces, and respond authentically to peers from all over the world.

The website recently held an essay contest that asked students to write about a personal experience. All of Cloverdale's participating students worked hard to incorporate relevant details, description and strong imagery in their essays. In the end, out of more than 700 essay submissions from throughout the world, Cloverdale students Mikey S. and Jazlene K. were both chosen as top 10 finalists! Congratulations to both students, who were awarded with literacy gift bags, including journals and book fair gift certificates, at a schoolwide assembly today! You can find out more and read their essays by finding their names on this webpage!
