Vote for Mental Health on November 3rd – New Hampshire General Election

From healthcare, to the economy, to criminal justice and more, mental health touches many of the issues that you might care about the most.

Whenever you cast your ballot, you vote for mental health, whether you realize it or not.

Every elected official – from the president and Congress, to state legislators, to county commissioners, city councilmembers, and town select boards – has influence on issues impacting people affected by mental health conditions. For our governments to reflect the views of their communities, everyone must take part.

The New Hampshire general election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Granite Staters will vote to elect key roles influencing mental health and suicide prevention policy, including the Governor, state legislature, executive council, and more.

You may register to vote in person at your municipal clerk’s office or in person at the polling location on Election Day. Visit the NH Secretary of State website to check the voter information database and learn more about how to register to vote, required documentation, frequently asked questions, and additional resources.

Congratulations to Team Rob - Everything Forever, the winners of this year’s Team T-Shirt Contest! Their beautiful design was created in loving memory of Rob, who died by suicide on February 4th, 2026.

Rob’s wife and team captain Cathy said, "Rob used to jokingly say he was 'kind of a big deal.' He even had a shirt with that saying on it. That was our inspiration for “Mental Health Is a Big F’ing Deal.” We wanted something that reflected Rob’s personality while also sending a powerful message about the importance of mental health.

"Our son wrote a beautiful poem for his dad called Everything Forever, which ends with the words, 'Because you’re everything forever, forever everything to me.' We chose to put 'Everything Forever' down the left sleeve of our shirts because it’s closest to our hearts, where Rob will always be. The Team Rob logo was inspired by the logo from Rob’s business, Riess Construction, which he built and was so proud of. We replaced 'Riess' with 'Team Rob' and 'Construction' with 'Everything Forever,' keeping a piece of something that meant so much to him. This shirt is so much more than something we wore for the NAMI Walk. It’s a reflection of Rob, his sense of humor, his life’s work, the love of his family, and the message we want to share about mental health. Every detail represents a piece of Rob, and every time we wear it, we carry him with us."

A huge shout-out as well to our runners-up: 2nd – Team Tyler and 3rd – Remembering our Sky Angels. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their creativity and stories through their designs. Each submission reflected incredible heart, teamwork, and spirit.

We’re getting close to reaching our 2026 NAMIWalks New Hampshire GOAL of $300,000— thank you for getting us this far! Fundraising is still open at www.NAMIWalksNH.org!

NAMI Ask the Expert: Dementia Care and Support for Family Care Partners
Thursday, November 5, 2026; 4:00 - 5:30pm

This presentation will provide family care partners with a practical and compassionate framework for navigating the dementia journey, drawing on principles from The Complete Family Guide to Dementia by Thomas Harrison and Brent P. Forester, MD, MSc.

Dr. Forester will combine his clinical expertise and research with personal experiences from his own family that have shaped his understanding of aging and mental health. He will be joined by Karen Finocchio, who will share her experience caring for her mother and how working with Dr. Forester helped give their family ten additional precious years together.

Together, they’ll explore common behavioral and emotional symptoms of dementia, practical approaches to care, planning for changing needs, and the importance of supporting care partners—helping families navigate dementia with greater understanding, confidence, and connection.
