The Morning Star Weekly Newsletter Vol 5, Edition 9 10/6/2020
Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,

We are excited to have the opportunity to take approximately 20 minutes on October 7th at noon to pray the Rosary with our Bishop. This will allow us to stop our busy day and pray the Rosary for the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. We will be praying for our country during very challenging times. Every classroom at Morning Star will participate. All are welcome to join us virtually for this gathering that will include the entire Catholic school system of the Diocese of St. Augustine. Please pass this information along to anyone in your community, including families and students, so they too can join us on this very special occasion. What a great opportunity to come together in unity.

This Saturday, October 10th is our Campus Clean-Up day from (9:00 to 11:00 am). We need lots of volunteers and 30 bags each of pine straw and brown mulch donations ( $250). Please click HERE to sign up to volunteer and/or email Maria Johnson HERE if you can help the school with a product donation. Thank you for caring about our school and God bless.

Peace,
Elaine Shott, Principal

If you would like to help, please make a monetary donation or purchase a 'Wish List" item as a gift to a teacher. You can mail your check or item to the school or drop off your donated item(s) at the front office. All wish list items have been specifically requested by teachers. EVENTS
WHAT: Fall Fun Day
WHEN: Friday, October 30th
WHERE: Morning Star School (students only)
One of Morning Star School's favorite events is our annual Fall Festival. Due to circumstances this year we are not able to continue our traditional Fall Festival Day but will have “Fall Fun Day” which allows us have fun while following our new school safety guidelines. Unfortunately, due to health and safety guidelines, we are unable to allow parent volunteers inside the school for the Fall Fun Day, but we promise to take pictures!
  • All students may wear a costume to school. Costumes must be school appropriate-no gory, scary, or inappropriate costumes will be permitted. If your child prefers not to wear a costume, he or she may dress in orange and black.

  • Activities will be planned throughout the day. Students will remain with their class, keeping cohorts together during activities. It will not be a whole school event as it has been in the past.

  • Our everyday health and safety guidelines will be followed during this event. Any snacks or drinks provided will be store-bought and individually pre-packaged. Students will collect candy and trinkets throughout the day. Teachers typically allow students to eat one or two pieces of candy, and the rest is sent home. If you would prefer your child not partake in the snacks provided, please email your child's teacher and send in separate snacks for your child for this day.

  • If your child is remote learning during the 2nd nine weeks, we will have a packet for them so he or she can partake in activities as well. Packets may be picked up on Wednesday, 10/28 or Thursday, 10/29 during school hours (8am-3pm). If you need to pick up after that, after school is until 6pm, but please reach out to us and let us know if you are coming during after school care hours.
