A Message from the Principal

Hello,
As I reported in the October 5th Newsletter, so we may continue our goal of providing in-person learning for our students, St. Joseph School has been approved to offer an extra layer of protection to prevent the spread of COVID-19: an in-school COVID-19 testing program. The program will have two components: Symptomatic Testing for students who show symptoms of COVID-19 at school and Test and Stay for students who may have been exposed while in school but are not showing symptoms. Each of these is a quick, non-invasive nasal swab that is collected under the supervision of our school nurse. Unlike COVID-19 tests of the past, these are not uncomfortable and easy for students to do themselves. Please refer to the October 5th Newsletter or the consent form for testing details. You may also contact our nurse, Leah Belanger, at nurse@sjs-webster.com with questions.
Consent forms were distributed at school today. You may click HERE to download a copy.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL PARENTS MUST RETURN A CONSENT FORM WHEHTER OR NOT YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO PARTICIPATE.
There is no charge for participating. It is our hope that these measures will work together to keep our school safe and your student in school.
Also included in this newsletter are the following topics:
- An Important Reminder from our Nurse
- Athletic Program updates including Basketball and Cheer Registration Deadlines
- Audition News for our Christmas Production
- Home and School Association Activities
- Service Hour Opportunity Details
- Update on the NJHS Community Service Project
- Important Dates
Please remember that tomorrow (Friday, October 8th) we have an early release. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 am. We will not offer the Aftercare/Extended School Day Program. However, BUSES ARE AVAILABLE.
In addition, we do not have school on Monday (October 11th) due to the Columbus Day holiday. So, please use the long weekend to relax and enjoy time with your family. Be safe!

A Note from the School Nurse
|
|
Please take advantage of the long weekend to clean and disinfect anything that travels back & forth to school, such as lunch boxes, rest mats, and back packs. This is allergy season and cleaning and disinfecting these items will help to reduce the "sniffles" in the school.
Please contact Leah Belanger at
Thank you for your assistance!

On Saturday, October 23rd at 8:00 am - 10:00 am, volunteers are needed to set-up the gymnasium for a large event taking place that evening: The Bartlett High School Hall of Fame Induction. We are very excited to be hosting the event because our benefactor, Richard Nowak, was their first inductee. So, please help us make this event a success!
Volunteers will be asked to cover the gym floor with our protective carpets as well as set-up tables and chairs.
Please email bboudreau@sjs-webster.com if you are interested in volunteering and earning service hours. Include "Service Hours" in the subject.

YOUR HELP IS STILL NEEDED!
NJHS Eagles Chapter - Community Service Project
|
|
The Sleeping Bag Ministry at the United Church of Christ needs our help. The ladies have made over 200 sleeping bags for the homeless that need Health Kits to go with the bags.
The Eagles Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is helping collect supplies for the health kids and has extended its collection period to Wednesday, October 13th because the following items are still needed:
- Toothbrushes
- Hand towels
- Shampoo
- Winter Gloves
- Men's Ties - every sleeping bag needs 2 ties to hold the bags together when rolled up.
Thank you for your generosity.
NJHS members will package the kits and deliver them to the United Church of Christ.
We are most grateful for your donations to help the homeless.
