RepMO Hero September Nominees
Last school year we started an employee recognition program called RepMO Hero, and we are excited to continue it into 2018-19! Throughout the school year we will take turns recognizing outstanding certified and classified employees. District employees submit nominations and then a nominee from each department group and building are submitted to a district selection committee who chooses one individual to be the RepMO Hero of the Month! That individual is recognized and receives $500 for his/her department or building to spend on resources of his/her choosing.
For September the following RepMO Hero nominees were celebrated! These individuals go above and beyond the call of duty to help us reach our mission of "preparing each student for a successful future." Thanks to each of them for their service! We'll share the RepMO Hero of the Month for September later this week!

It was a pleasure hosting the Greene County Commission today at Republic High School as
part of a six stop "agriculture tour" in the area. Our RHS FFA students did a phenomenal job showing our visitors the exciting ag-education opportunities available to students at Republic. The acreage surrounding RHS is used for various projects. One is a land revitalization process, many are familiar with, where students are growing row crops including soybeans and, in the future, winter wheat to sell for profit. By the end of the school year 25 acres of this land will be home to 10 head of beef cattle that will feed using a rotational grazing pattern implemented by students. Inside RHS students have access to an animal science lab that they helped built that features an ultrasound machine among other resources. The "farm to table" approach to learning is highly evident here at RHS through the FFA program. Science, business, hands on learning...you name it, it happens here! The goal is to provide all students, regardless of background, an opportunity to explore this field. We are thankful for the ability to provide these opportunities to students as it is certainly a rarity to have a working farm at a high school! #repmoproud
Congratulations to Olivia Skeans, Football Homecoming Queen 2018! The entire court looked sharp tonight! #repmoproud
While 8th graders were researching the best cup a CEO of a multi-million dollar fast food company should purchase, RMS student Isaiah Pendergrass wondered why some
local companies didn't use biodegradable plant-based plastic cups. He decided to call Wendy's in Republic to ask why they still use paper cups. Wendy's directed Isaiah to the regional Wendy's office. Isaiah asked the regional office the question of why do they not use plant-based plastics. In talking to the regional office they confessed that they have never been asked that question. Isaiah was then given the phone number to Wendy's US Headquarters, and is communicating with them about plant-based plastic cups. Way to go to Isaiah for asking questions to companies that affect our environment! #repmoproud
OCTOBER 4: We're going to do a little THROWBACK THURSDAY today to the opening night of the new RHS Stadium. It was a great evening that gave the district an opportunity to publicly thank our wonderful community for supporting the construction of this new facility. We kicked things off with a fun video featuring a time lapse of the construction process along with spotlights of students and employees representing the different groups that will benefit from the facility. A fun feature of the night was when a skydiver delivered the game ball to the official! Thanks again to our community! #repmoproud
Isn't this JUST THE BEST?! In lieu of birthday gifts, Price student, Lyric Scott asked his friends and family to help him raise funds to provide several neat technology tools for the Price Elementary library. Lyric had the opportunity to attend a STEM camp in Chicago over the summer, and he wanted his classmates to share in his experience. He raised $430 to be used for purchasing a class set of Bristlebots and several MBots, technology resources that help students understand different elements of robots and computer coding. We are so very thankful for Lyric's generosity and "world changer" mentality! #repmoproud
RMS Emailed Progress Reports & Grade Cards Begin 10/19
To help parents more quickly and efficiently receive progress reports and grade cards, Republic Middle School will be moving to electronic distribution starting Friday, October 19. This means that your student's grades will be sent to the email address we have on file for you on the appropriate dates. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
It's REALLY important we have the correct email (and other contact information) on file for you to ensure you receive this information. To check it out, click on the "Parent Portal" icon on the website or choose this icon inside the Republic School District mobile app. As a reminder, to login use the email address you have provided to the district and enter the password you have created. If you've forgotten it, simply click on the "forgot password" button and follow the prompts. You can find this information under the "Update Household Data" icon. Any changes you submit will be sent to the RMS office for final approval.
If it's the day of distribution and you've confirmed we have the correct email address, but still don't receive the report, check your spam file.
As always, grades will also be available by logging in to Canvas and on the parent portal.
If you have any questions, please contact the RMS office as we are happy to assist!
STRIPES 360 Security Update
Just as during normal school hours, the safety and security of our students is also a top priority during STRIPES 360 programming hours. Because of this commitment, beginning Monday, October 22 there will be new security measures put in place when dropping off and picking up students from Tiger STRIPES at the elementary schools.
In order to gain access to Tiger STRIPES, you will need to ring a doorbell which will let Tiger STRIPES staff know that you are there to drop-off or pick-up students. When STRIPES staff hear the bell they will unlock the door remotely. As an added security measure staff will have a live feed of the security camera monitoring the entrance. The entrance and pick-up locations will remain the same as in the past. A doorbell, camera and associated signage will just be added. As with any change, we know this will take a little getting used to. However, we feel this added security measure will be a tremendous asset to the families we serve. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move to this change beginning Monday, October 22.
