WHERE TO NEXT?

Good morning Traveler,

What a year it was! 2022 started off a little bumpy with some pandemic issues, but it then took off! It was my busiest year yet for travel. I absolutely loved planning trips with you to all over the globe. And I personally loved being out in the world exploring again.

First a few reflections on 2022...

I am grateful for all of you.

First to our clients who trusted us with planning their most valuable resource - time away

with their families. I have loved getting to know you better and loved each trip I designed for you! You've traveled near and far - from Cape Cod to Beverly Hills to Telluride, from Vietnam to Croatia to Africa. I've loved playing a small part in your adventures and celebrations.

And to those of you who read my newsletter each week - even if we've never officially

worked together, I hope you've found some nuggets that have inspired a new trip

for you.

Here are highlights from a few of your trips:

Looking back at all of the adventures was a great reminder of how much we accomplished last year.

Beyond all of the trips planned with you, here are a few more things on my list from 2022:

  • This newsletter marks 100!!! weekly newsletters in a row that have gone out to you. We've more than doubled our subscribers! Thanks to you for sharing it with your friends and family.
  • Became a coach for The Sabbatical Project
  • Had the joy of mentoring and coaching many of my industry peers
  • Published 18 Adventures in Luxury Travel podcasts
  • Won two industry awards
  • Read a lot of books! I am just about to finish The Last Days of the Incas. If Peru is on your list I highly suggest you read it - history that reads like a novel!
  • Spent a lot of time outdoors with friends, family and Tigger, learned to play golf, went hiking and mountain biking A LOT.

I also want to take this moment to share a note of thanks with my husband, Jason. I am blessed with his support, encouragement and unwavering belief that my passion-fueled business endeavor was worth the investment, especially of my time and attention. Even through a fairly large two year drought from covid. He's the guy who says yes to my crazy adventures including a wild swim in the Connecticut River on Christmas Day. I could not ask for a better partner in this life.

I'm not sure what 2023 will bring for all of us, but I have my own ideas about what I will bring to 2023! My main personal focus this year will be wellness, which took a back seat to my business last year. I'm excited to explore the many plans I have to incorporate more wellness in my life.

"Life is either a great adventure or nothing."

~ Helen Keller.

Whatever your version of a great adventure is, let's make 2023 a year of doing something

different, pushing beyond comfort zones and living our one precious life to its fullest!

I'm all in!

Cheers to an incredible 2023 for all of you!

Warmly,

  • Looking forward to 2023 - your bucket list destinations and where you are already going
  • Articles focused on where to go in 2023

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

The word cloud above is of my clients' bucket list destinations. The size represents the frequency of a response. So fun to see what is the biggest!

Many of my favorites are listed so I understand why you've picked them!

One of the most popular questions I get from clients is "Where should I go for _______." Fill in the blank with spring break, our family's summer vacation, winter weekend getaway, my 50th birthday etc.

I love the question because it is full of possibilities! Sometimes you are choosing between two places and other times you are truly wide open to anywhere.

To give you more inspiration, I've compiled the list of articles below from a wide variety of sources giving boundless suggestions for where to go in 2023. Take a look.

Some that bubble to the top:

Of course the favorites are in there like countries in Western Europe, and it's no surprise that Japan is listed, since it recently re-opened after a long closure. And there are many more off the beaten path locations too.

I loved reading Why you should visit New Zealand in 2023 because it is one of my favorite places I've traveled to and I know my kids will love it. I am planning for our family to visit New Zealand after my son is done playing hockey (the best time for us to go will be late December, which is impossible while he's on a high school team).

What captivates me about it so much? The beauty of the country, the hikes, the adventures, the wine, the wildlife, the food, the people, the fishing, the lodges. All of it!

I keep all of my favorites in each country on a map for quick reference, and as you can see in the one below for New Zealand, it is full! With over 600 of the best luxury lodges, treehouses (topping my list Hapuku, photo below), glamping locations, restaurants, hikes, cafes, sheep farms, beaches, wineries, mountain bike trails, beaches, golf courses, picnic sites, helicopter experiences and on my teen's list - the shark boat (photo below).
