Congratulations, Deputy Chief Cucchi!
After 25 years of dedicated service to Woodland, the City Council recognized Deputy Chief Anthony Cucchi and his distinguished career in public service for the Police Department.
Woodland Mayor Victoria Fernandez read Cucchi’s certificate of appreciation during the council’s meeting Tuesday evening, detailing his many roles in the police department starting with his role as a patrol officer in 1998.
“In August 2000, he was selected as a school resource officer and impacted students’ lives over the next three years until he returned to patrol as a field training officer,” Fernandez highlighted. “In September 2001, he was selected as a special weapons and tactics team member, and in 2005, he became the SWAT assistant team leader.”
During his time in this role, she emphasized that Cucchi was part of the arrest team that searched, located and arrested the murderer of Yolo County Sheriff Deputy Tony Diaz.
“In July 2006, he was promoted to sergeant and was assigned to the patrol division,” she continued. “In March 2009, he was selected as the professional standards sergeant and was in charge of recruiting, hiring, administrative tasks and internal affairs.”
He was then promoted to lieutenant in December 2010, and was assigned to the investigations bureau.
“He was assigned to the patrol bureau and became the SWAT team commander in 2015,” Fernandez stressed. “In 2019, he was promoted to deputy chief of police and oversaw the daily operations of the entire police department.”
Cucchi is also a United States Army combat veteran and served as a military police officer during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and in Bosnia from 1990 to 1997."

Yesterday, we bid farewell to one of our most tenured dispatchers, Communications Supervisor Karen "KC" Bradford. For the last 15 years of her total 35 year career, she has been one of our Vacaville voices of calm & reassurance answering 911 calls from our community and dispatching our Vacaville Police & Fire responders. Please join us in celebrating her long career as described during her final radio call:

Communications Supervisor Karen “KC” Bradford, badge #611, on behalf of your Vacaville Police & Vacaville Fire Department families and for the City of Vacaville that you have served for the last fifteen years, we want to thank and congratulate you today for thirty-five years of exceptionally dedicated service as a Public Safety Dispatcher. What began as a part time job as a dispatcher for the City of Fairfield at the young age of eighteen years old in 1987, became the career that has been your calling for a lifetime. Serving Fairfield for twenty years as a Dispatcher, Lead Dispatcher and Tactical Dispatcher, you made the move and came to Vacaville, in 2007 to serve your hometown community.

KC, your career is its very own era within public safety and you have been decorated deservingly so. In your years at Vacaville, you were awarded the Police Dispatcher of the Year in 2012, Top Mic in 2014, Fire Dispatcher of the year in 2020, recipient of the Chief’s Distinguished Unit citation in 2016 and in 2020, Life-saving awards in 2012, 2020, and 2021 & and in 2015, as one of the crowning achievements in any dispatcher’s career, you helped deliver a new baby into the world.

In your roles as a Tactical Dispatcher for 23 years, Communications Training Officer, Communications Supervisor and member of Peer Support, you have supported, trained, mentored and lead us with dedication and heart. These roles were more than adjunct assignments for you as you have been steadfast as our friend, team mom, cheerleader and always a shoulder to cry on. To your partners in the Comm Center, you have been a constant. When 911 needed to call for backup, we knew that you were always there no matter the time of day or night, just a call away. You have been our 911. You have been with us as the reminder that “I am not here for Me. I am here for We. And we are here for Them.”

For your partners, your teams and all of the trainees you have had over the years, you have been the example of what it is to love what you do and give it your all. Your commitment to officer safety, your enthusiasm for our career, and the pride you have representing our profession has been instilled in all of us. You are leaving us with a legacy of excellence and forever with your reminder to “Keep them safe and bring them all home.”

For the last three and a half decades, you have been selfless in your duties as a lifeline not only for the public and the communities you have served, but for all of the officers, firefighters and every public servant on the other side of the radio that you swore to protect. You have lived your career with one standard first and foremost: safety is always #1 and everyone comes home at the end of the shift.

For 35 years, you have had two families and when you weren’t with your own, you were with ours. Our departments and our communities owe a debt of gratitude to your family, most especially to your #1 cheerleaders: your mother Ginny & father Chuck, and your children, your pride and joy, Nate & Alex. In sharing you for all of these years, they have been your silent partners so that you could be the voice of calm and reassurance that you have been to our communities and all of our first responders.

KC, you have earned every moment of this next chapter of retirement. Aloha friend, we love you and we are always just a call away.

Community Uplift

The last ride (No, nobody died). I asked my dad how long he’s been riding motorcycles & he said, “since Uncle Joe’s dad taught me in high school.”

That’s over 60 years ! (Almost 30 of those years were spent serving the citizens of Fairfield). Many people remember dad as the dark motorcycle cop who smoked a pipe & gave everybody tickets.

Dad said he wanted to give his bike to my brother Jim, but he said, “before I do, I want to go on one last ride.” So, Jim drove up from Ventura & the two of them drove back to Ventura together. It was an awesome trip that neither one of them will soon forget.

After they made it back to Ventura, Cindy & I were able to drive down to Paso Robles & have lunch with dad & Jim & then take dad the rest of the way home, so as to help cut down on Jim’s many miles.

During Jim’s trip here he went to a funeral where he got to see many old friends & we even managed to sneak a little disc golf in.

So thankful to God for my family & getting to spend a little time with them.

A Horse and His "Dog"

Starting to think Dude has a food truck addiction. We stopped by The Dog Father, Vacaville food truck, yesterday and while I was looking over the menu, Dude had already ordered a Chicago Dog, Chili Dog and Polish Sausage.

The Peña Adobe Historical Society welcomed 158 park visitors and guests on Saturday, May 6th for our annual "Kids' Day at the Adobe" event!

Guests included Fairfield Police Officer Michael Peña and his K9 partner Cort, local diving instructor and coach from 707 Diving, Quinten Mendoza, who shared his love of reptiles with two of his snakes. Dr. Sue Chan of California Education Through Animals from Phoenix Ranch on Midway Road brought two baby lambs, and music was provided by McBride Senior Center's "Vacaville Jammers"!

Before COVID, we maintained a February through December open house event schedule. Last year we were able to host five open house events and Saturday's event was our first open house for this year. While the day started out a bit wet and rainy, we were pleased that so many folks turned out and enjoyed themselves! Next month, on June 3rd we will host "Western Day at the Adobe" and welcome back the Congressional Gunfighters of America and Joe Hoberg, Rush Ranch's blacksmith. Next month we also welcome back Camp Adobe! The ten week summer day camp begins June 12 and promises to be a lot of fun for the 40 campers we reach every week.

As we hadn't had an event since October, one difference we noticed this year was, with the addition of the CalTrans concrete median on I80, the noise level from the highway has drastically increased. The Jammers musicians always set up in the courtyard area between our Museum and the bathrooms. In the past, visitors would bring lawn chairs and sit in the grass to listen to their music. Saturday, most visitors couldn't hear the group unless they were sitting directly in front of the musicians in the courtyard.

LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Meet Sandra Butler, Realtor, Century 21 Fairfield

SHOP, BUY, AND SELL LOCAL WITH YOUR LOCAL REALTOR!!

My enthusiasm for real estate comes from being a long time resident of Solano County. My family moved to Green Valley in 1975. My dad was a local Realtor for many, many years and my mom is a retired FSUSD teacher. I am a graduate of Armijo High School and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. My two sons, Blake and Spencer, are also Armijo High School graduates!

I have been part of many of my own real estate transactions, i.e., built 2 custom homes, remodeled my first owned townhome, all in Solano County. I also purchase investment properties and land both within and outside of Solano County.

I have always had a passion for real estate! In fact, I worked in the mortgage business from 1983-1997. I have had my CA real estate license since 1992. My career as a mortgage loan underwriter, loan officer, and loan processor in the wholesale and secondary market led me to a very successful contract underwriting business. I specialized in pre-undewriting home loan packages prior to submitting the loan for underwiting approval with a lender. The payoff benefited all parties with quick loan approval and very satisfied customers.

I currently hold my license under C entury EPIC in Fairfield, CA. I have received numerous awards such as 2015, 2017, 2020 C21 Master Ruby Producer; 2016 C21 Diamond Producer; 2017 C21 Quality Service Producer; 2018,2019, 2020 C21 Quality Service Pinnacle Producer and 2021 Masters Emerald producer and Quality Service Producer. As a Quality Service Producer, I received customer surveys from my clients each year with an average survey score of at least 95 percent or better. It is quite an honor and a wonderful feeling to know that my dedication to my clients shows paid off!

I am active in my community. Over the course of the years I was involved with Suisun Valley School fundraisers, PTA, and annual SV Auction (9 years). Other involvement was in the Suisun Valley 4-H (6 years); Armijo Sober Grad Nite (8 years & counting); a member of the Sons & Daughters of Italy; and a donor to several local causes, to name a few.

I believe in the "American Dream" of buying a home, and buying local real estate strengthens our community. I would love to have the privilege of doing all I can do to make your real estate "dreams" come true. Whether as a buyer, seller, or investor, you can count on my services and expertise. I am equipped and ready to assist you, your family, and friends. So please, call me at 707-592-6267. I look forward to serving you.
