SPRING 2023

Greetings Tarabu,

HAPPY SPRING!

Thank you to the Black Reel Awards for honoring us with the Outstanding Independent Documentary Film Award for 2022. We just received this beautiful trophy in the mail. Thank you from all of us on the 100 Years film team that contributed so much heart and love in bringing this story to life.

We’ve had a busy start to the year. Since distribution began for 100 Years From Mississippi last year through American Public Television, we have had over 350 telecasts on Public Broadcasting Stations around the country and over 170 telecasts since the beginning of the new year.

We’ve also had some great live college screenings this year as part of Black History and Women's History Months, starting with my alma mater, Canisius College in Buffalo, New York and at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on the campus of Buffalo State University. The Burchfield Penney Art Center screening was in collaboration with the incredible exhibition, LEROI: Living in Color Exhibition. And we joined THE HISTORY THROUGH ART Photo exhibit during Black History Month at the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor in Buffalo, to share stories of 100 Years From Mississippi.

In Indianapolis we screened at the Indianapolis Black Documentary Film Festival’s Black History Month Festival on the campus of Martin University. All screenings were accompanied with post-film discussions with Director Tarabu Betserai Kirkland.
