Winter 2023

Greetings Tarabu,

Happy holidays to all and wishing you and the world peace in the coming year.

We have nothing but superlatives and tons of gratitude to report from our recent international tour of Japan. We screened 100 Years From Mississippi on four university campuses in four different cities to audiences of students, faculty, scholars and researchers.

The film was translated with Japanese subtitles for our screenings, which began at Doshisha University in Kyoto, followed by screenings at Kyoritsu Women's University in Tokyo, Kitakyushu City University in Kokura, and Nanzan University in Nagoya.

There were deep discussions on race, politics and culture at each screening and each host university offered us tremendous generosity and respect.

Masumi Izumi, Ph.D. Professor of American Studies at Doshisha University, was the tour organizer — which she executed to perfection. A special thank you to her for her tireless efforts!

Fumiko Sakashita, Ph.D Professor of American Studies at Ritsumeikan University, prefaced each screening with a brilliant slide presentation that gave audiences the historical legacy of lynchings through mass incarceration.

Each gathering was unique and powerful, and we were amazed and humbled at how the film resonated with international audiences.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE ORGANIZERS AT:
