This webinar is part of 100 Women in Finance’s 20th Anniversary Celebration and the special 20th Anniversary Break the Mould series of events. BIOGRAPHIES
Rohini Dey
Owner, Vermilion - Chicago, IL

Rohini Dey straddles the worlds of business and philanthropy across the US and India. Her career includes teaching, project management in foreign investment policy for the World Bank, management consulting, and, of course, restaurant entrepreneur. She has headed up Vermilion restaurant in Chicago and New York for the last ten years; it has received accolades from several leading publications. As a writer and speaker, she is a contributor to CNN, Miami Herald, and the Chicago Sun Times, to name a few. As an advocate for women, she co-founded the James Beard Foundation Women’s Leadership Program in 2011, recently founded Let’s Talk, a collaboration of over 350 women restauranteurs across twelve cities, and started the non-profit MSEdG – Educate Women Globally; she has been honored many times for her philanthropic efforts. Rohini has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, and a Doctorate in Management Science from the University of Texas. Apart from her business and her family, her passions include travel, running, chess and squash.

Ivy Mix
Co-Owner, Leyenda - Brooklyn, NY

Ivy Mix and her long-time mentor Julie Reiner opened up Leyenda in May of 2015. Leyenda has since won many awards and has been recognized as being one of the best bars in America by Eater, GQ, Thrillist and others. With a long history of working in bars throughout the Americas, Ivy has been recognized by many within the culinary and cocktail industry as being one of the best bartenders in the country and in 2015 was named American Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards and in 2016 was named Mixologist of the Year by Wine Enthusiast. In 2019, her work with Lynette Marrero gave them the honor of receiving 2 Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards: for Philanthropy and World’s Best Bar Mentors. In Spring 2020, Ivy published her first cocktail book, Spirits of Latin America, which was named one of Esquire’s “Best Cocktail Book

Dina Samson
Co-founder, Rossoblu, Superfine Pizza - Los Angeles, CA

Dina Samson adeptly assumed the role of “unexpected restaurateur” when she opened her first restaurant, Sotto, alongside husband/chef Steve Samson, in 2011. Since then, she has become the visionary and operational glue for their two current concepts, Rossoblu and Superfine Pizza, under the banner of the newly formed San Julian Hospitality Group. The Samsons are managing partners alongside Hans Luttmann. Before joining the restaurant industry, Dina worked as as an investment banker and hedge fund operator in San Francisco and New York. She also served in chief of staff roles to several financial CEOs as well as celebrity entrepreneurs P. Diddy and MTV’s Rob Dyrdek. Her pivot to the restaurant business occurred when her husband sought her expertise in financing his first restaurant, and she secured investors and took on the role of general manager. Together, they have expanded their hospitality brand with Rossoblu, their acclaimed ode to Bologna, and Superfine Pizza, which melds the delicious traits from both Neapolitan and New York pizza styles.

Shaolee Sen
CEO, Hot Bread Kitchen - Brooklyn, NY

Shaolee Sen is an advocate for women, diversity, small business, and social justice. Inspired by her mother’s entrepreneurial spirit and journey as an Indian immigrant, Shaolee is proud to lead Hot Bread Kitchen as CEO, working to directly impact New York's culturally and economically diverse workforce of women and food entrepreneurs. Prior to Hot Bread Kitchen, Shaolee served as executive vice president for Accion in the US, developing new programming and collaborative opportunities for a network of non-profit small business lending institutions to find scalable solutions for affecting economic development. She has over fifteen years of experience in new program strategy, corporate partnership management, and business development in non-profit organizations. She started her career in community and economic development at The Bronx Defenders, helping to establish its family defense practice. She resides in Jersey City, is the mother of two young children and serves on the board of the New York Employment Training Coalition and on the Capital One Community Renewal Fund Advisory Board.

Deborah VanTrece
Chef, Twisted Soul Cookhouse - Atlanta, GA

Chef Deborah VanTrece doubles as one of Atlanta’s hottest chef personalities, creative director and owner of Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours in West Midtown Atlanta and The Catering Company by VanTrece. In March 2021, Chef VanTrece will add published author to her list of accolades with the release of The Twisted Soul Cookbook: Modern Soul with Global Flavors (Rizzoli). Chef VanTrece has been featured in The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, NPR, Food Network, HuffPost, and Buzzfeed, among others.. She is a sought-after chef for top food brands and has partnered with top brands such as Ben & Jerry’s, Sabra, Belvedere Vodka, Big Green Egg, and others. As a female African American restauranteur, business owner, and member of the LGBTQ+ community, VanTrece is also a passionate and vocal advocate for social justice and issues close to her heart.

Ellen Yin
Owner, High Street Hospitality - Philadelphia, PA

Ellen Yin is Co-founder and Owner of High Street Hospitality Group (HSHG) which operates some of the country’s most celebrated dining establishments including High Street Philly, and High Street Provisions in Philadelphia and High Street on Hudson, in Manhattan. A graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Yin has been honored with Philadelphia Business Journal’s “Women of Distinction” award in 2020 and is a multi-year nominee for “Outstanding Restaurateur” by the James Beard Foundation Awards. flagship restaurant, Fork, was named one of the most influential restaurants of the past decade by the Inquirer and among Esquire’s list of “Top 100 Restaurants America Can’t Afford to Lose” in 2020. That year, the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce honored the group with the “Inspiring Excellence Award” for community-driven work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic including feeding front-line workers, hospitality workers and the food insecure, as well as fundraising for restaurant industry mental health programs. Yin and her business have supported many philanthropic organizations, including Bakers Against Racism, Everybody Eats Philadelphia, Fuel the Fight, Let’s Talk, and Save Philly Eats. She currently serves as leadership within the Independent Restaurant Coalition, is on The Philadelphia Regional Recharge and Recovery Task Force, and is part of the Small Business Ecosystem Advisory Council and the Restaurant Advisory Committee to the City of Philadelphia.

Kerry Diamond
Founder, Cherry Bombe - Brooklyn, NY

Kerry Diamond is the founder of Cherry Bombe, a media company that celebrates women in and around the world of food. She’s also the host of Radio Cherry Bombe, the #1 podcast about women and food in the U.S. Kerry’s diverse experience prior to Cherry Bombe includes luxury beauty news editor at WWD, beauty director of Harper’s Bazaar, and vice president of public relations North America for Lancôme, where she introduced several ground-breaking social media and influencer initiatives. Kerry later co-owned several eateries in Brooklyn, including the award-winning Smith Canteen coffee shop, which was recognized for its green initiatives. She was also the editor in chief of Yahoo Food. Kerry serves on the board of NYC & Co., the official destination marketing organization and convention and visitors bureau for the five boroughs of New York City; the alumni board of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and the advisory committee of Women.NYC, a city government initiative to create economic opportunity.
