I also had to purchase Sassetti's 2015 Brunello Riserva, which I'm ALSO passing the savings on to you.
We've been waiting impatiently for two years to send you this offer. Back in February 2020, Lorenzo and Sabina Sassetti suitcased a sample of their not-yet-released 2016 Brunello for us to preview. I don't need to go into detail about how the room reverberated pleasurable moans from everyone after tasting...
...then came a global pandemic.
...then the import supply chain completely broke down for the foreseeable future.
It doesn't matter anymore — we have 45 bottles and that's all you need to know to act fast. Also, in addition to being utterly delicious, your bottles will immediately gain value in your cellar

This is a traditional Brunello house with a very classic style. Four generations of the Sassetti family have made wine in Montalcino and founder Livio was one of the 11 founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino producer's consortium, which was created back in 1967. Today the estates are managed by Lorenzo Sassetti, Livio's son, who is an acclaimed winemaker. Here is some background courtesy of Vinous Media's Eric Guido:
"The Pertimali vineyards surround the winery in one single block, all located on the Montosoli hill in the northern part of Montalcino. For many years now, I’ve enjoyed the house's old-school, pleasurably rustic style, combined with fleshy primary fruit and balanced structure to match... the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino [is] the best young wine I can remember ever tasting from this estate."
All of Lorenzo’s wines have deep roots in their respective terroirs, showcasing his willingness to preserve their traditional features. The wines are invigorating, aromatic, powerful styles that dance on the palate rather than attack it with blunt force. The Sassetti’s “Pertimali” Brunello di Montalcino is a collector’s wine, a true benchmark for Brunello.
A friendly reminder on the historic 2016 Brunello vintage:
Here's what Monica Larner (Wine Advocate) had to say in her report on the potential of 2016, ahead of the traditional January 1 release date:
"This is an iconic year, with well-timed moments of crisp coolness (as opposed to the heat spikes we saw in 2015) to shape sharp and linear wines with excellent potential for cellar aging. The 2016 vintage rolls in with the same fanfare and hysteria that surrounded the classic 2010 vintage. It promises to be a well-earned success for Brunello producers."
In fact, she gave the 2016 vintage a higher score (98) than she did the "picture perfect" 2015, so we are expecting great things of these wines!
James Suckling, too, pointed to the potential of the 2016 vintage in THIS article, calling it another "pair of great vintages" and saying
"I like to say that 2016 would be the greatest vintage ever for Brunello if it weren’t for the stupendous 2015."
I have 45 bottles of 2016 Brunello, 18 of the 2015 Riserva, and 60 of the Montecucco Rosso. Waste no time in placing your order!
Ciao,
