In honor of the new Fall 2025/Winter 2026 edition of our FUN 101 list, this newsletter is all about fun on a budget! FUN 101 is a list of 101 Things to See & Do in the Kenosha Area for $10 & Under (Many are FREE!). It’s part events calendar and part seasonal activity guide with some recreation spots, attractions, and landmarks included. Below are some ways to find your #KenoshaFun this month.

FUN ON TWO FARMS

Enjoy a family or friends outing! Stroll through the free iconic hand-painted pumpkin displays at Jerry Smith Farm (other activities have fees). When you visit Thompson Farm on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, admission is free. There’s an admission fee on weekends for their fall festival.

MORE HALLOWEEN EVENTS

For $10 & under: Look for ghosts at Rhode Center for the Arts. Watch dinos come alive at the Dinosaur Discovery Museum. Enter the Haunted House at Kemper Center. Watch a single film in the Oct 3-4 Port of Fear Film Festival. Dogs, kids, teens, and adults can enter a costume contest at the free Fall Into Fun Festival on Oct 18.

ALL ABOUT THE BOOKS

The Southport Literary Fair features 25+ authors, meet and greets, book signings, panel discussions, story times, vendors, and more. Admission is free. Two local businesses Blue House Books and Studio Moonfall – along with the Kenosha Public Library – present this celebration of literature, creativity, and community. It’s on Oct 4 at the Kenosha Public Library - Southwest Branch.

AFFORDABLE MUSEUMS

The Southport Light Station Museum is open through October: explore the free maritime museum or climb the lighthouse (to climb: must be 8 or older, fee is $10 & under). The Kenosha Public Museum, Dinosaur Discovery Museum, and Kenosha History Center are free. Portions of the Civil War Museum are free. Housed in a stunning building, visit the Pritzker Military Museum & Library ($5 & under).
