...To know Christ and to make Him known
John 6:24-35
A Pilgram's Journey

A pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred place.  Christian pilgrimages first began as visits to the sites connected with the birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Later on, pilgrimages were made to sites in Italy, Spain, France, England and other places.  Pilgrims would leave their homes, families, and comforts to walk for hundreds of miles with nothing but what they could carry on their backs.  Just as those pilgrims from the early centuries, our youth at St. Peter’s did the same, leaving our homes, families and the comforts of San Diego to journey to England. Back in 2014, I was one of the chaperones that led youth from St. Peter’s Del Mar. After hiking through the many miles of varied terrain of the 192-mile Coast to Coast Walk, I and our pilgrims can in all faith say, England is a sacred place! The Spirit of God was present and guiding us on our youth pilgrimage. We came to learn more about ourselves and deepened our faith in God.  While on our hikes we came to experience lessons that could only have been learned from being here on this journey through England.  On the first day, I came to the insight that this physical walking journey was a metaphor for our spiritual life.  In our spiritual lives, there are sacrifices, suffering, hunger, pain, exhaustion, wrong turns, getting lost and being found.  Maps are like stores, merely symbolic representations of someone else’s journey and so therefore maps require interpretation and sometimes guides to help us understand where we are to go next.  In the end, God was in charge of our pilgrimage, not us.
Thanks be to God!

Fr. Munoz

 ****Buildings and Grounds Funds Campaign****

Grace is situated at a moment in its history when God is calling us once again to a renewed greatness. True greatness, however, comes in serving and that is what Grace has done in its past and now proposes to do in a new way in the future. Grace’s grounds are beautiful; our buildings have a unique historical architectural quality, we have an abundance of land and a large parking lot, but they need upkeep if we are to attract people who will share in serving with a dynamic church that is growing rather than looking like it's at its last legs. To that end, we need to raise $50,000 to do this care and conservation; the good news is there is a lot of excitement and we are at $31,000 or just above half the way there.
Please prayerfully consider making a donation or pledge to the beautification of our landscaping and parking lot repairs.
If you have already given towards this campaign,
Thank You!

Together we can accomplish anything!

In addition to the landscaping project, we are brainstorming ideas on a Labyrinth meditation garden and collecting some names and advice for professional designers/landscapers that might help us out. We have visions of transforming our current landscape of mulch to a welcoming landscape that will invite folks into our church, our churchyards and the Labyrinth. We are also thinking of low watering and maintenance requirements that we hope can be achieved with the help of creative designers. We hope to hold a brainstorming and ideation session toward the end of June. If you are interested in this project, please contact Susan Newlin and/or Janet Marseilles
