CITY OF VALLEJO POLICE CHIEF TO BE SWORN IN ON NOVEMBER 12
VALLEJO, CA - The new City of Vallejo Police Chief, Shawny Williams, will be sworn-in as the leader of the Vallejo Police Department during a ceremony on Tuesday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers.

The City of Vallejo announced Williams' selection as the new Police Chief on September 13, pending the completion of background checks. The City issued the final offer letter on October 7. View the press release announcing the selection of Chief Williams here.

"I am excited to welcome Shawny Williams as he officially becomes Vallejo's Police Chief," said City Manager Greg Nyhoff. "Throughout the selection process, the City has been focused on what the Vallejo community is looking for in their new Police Chief, and I'm thrilled that we've found Shawny to fill this important role. He has a stellar reputation and years of exceptional service with the San Jose Police Department, and I believe his leadership will have a positive impact on the Vallejo Police Department and our community as a whole."

The selection of Williams as the new Police Chief is the result of a robust recruitment and hiring process that the City conducted in partnership with the firm Ralph Andersen & Associates. The process involved community-focused activities, including two community forums and an interview panel of community members, to support the City Council's priority of improved relationships between the police and community. Williams was selected from a group of 47 total applicants for the Police Chief position. He was the City's top pick amongst the five applicants who reached the final panel interview stage of the recruitment process.
