letter from the principal
Dear Families,

As we approach Thanksgiving, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone (including myself) to be thankful for all we have. I'm particularly thankful for our students, staff and community. While Langley is far from perfect, I am thankful for all that we have. Our students are wonderful representatives of our community. I sat in on Absolute Ruler projects from Ms. Stankewicz's class and was amazed at the depth of knowledge, the maturity and the poise of some of our sophomores.

I attended the volleyball state semifinal game on Tuesday night, and was pleased to see over 25 staff members there to support their students. We had a large and vibrant student section, as well. Of course, our team exhibited skill, toughness and sportsmanship throughout their victory.

I'm thankful I've been able to see wonderful student productions in orchestra and band. I look forward to the Renaissance Feaste with great anticipation (tickets still available!). I'm thankful every Saxon Service day when I see our students giving back to the community. I urge all of us to remember how good we have it here.

I appreciate all our PTSA does for us and the support the community gives us . I want to wish you and your family a restful and peaceful Thanksgiving.

~ Fred Amico, Principal

distracted driving program
Before the quarter break,  students took part in the annual Distracted Driving Program in the cafeteria at lunchtime . Students used an interactive driving simulator and virtual reality goggles to witness what the tragic consequences can be when you're distracted either by texts or other outside influences . Also, students signed a banner with the pledge to keep two hands on the wheel and two eyes on the road .

On Nov 2, students were surprised to find the Fairfax County Police Dept in the parking lot handing out coupons to Santini's for having their seatbelts on , and reminding them to not text and drive . The PTSA would like to thank the Inova Trauma Center, AT&T, State Farm Insurance, Santini's in McLean and the Fairfax County Police Department for bringing this important message to our community!
