An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
Dear Park Spanish Immersion School Community,

It's been a fun week of learning at school!

In our gymnasium, TONIGHT, starting at 6:30, we will host our annual "Immersion Information Night" for prospective parents. Please encourage friends and neighbors who will have Kindergarten students next year to attend. Click HERE to see more about Kindergarten in SLP.

As a reminder, we will not have classes next Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29. We hope that you are able to enjoy time together. We look forward to seeing our students again on Monday, December 2nd!

Have a great week, and keep reading!

Children's Dental Services (CDS) is an organization that provides dental care at school during school hours. They use a mobile-based model to provide cleanings, x-rays, fluoride, and more.  If we have enough families interested in this service , CDS will schedule a time at PSI. CDS accepts all forms of insurance and offers a sliding fee scale and payment plans for families who are uninsured. Watch for the consent forms to come home with your child soon. Here is the link (in English and Spanish ) if you would prefer to print off; please complete both sides. Forms can be returned to the health office.

District Seeks Stakeholder Feedback on Out-of-School Time Options
The District is currently seeking stakeholder feedback on program options generated by the Out-of-School Time (OST) Taskforce. Click here to view a one-page flyer that contains the preliminary program options. The District will once again be using ThoughtExchange to gather feedback. ThoughtExchange allows stakeholders to share thoughts, feedback, and ideas in an open-ended, confidential, and easy-to-use digital environment.

In alignment with the Strategic Plan, St. Louis Park Public Schools completed a School Start/End Times Study in March of 2019. The School Board voted to change the school start and end times for students beginning in the 2020-21 school year.

OST Taskforce Purpose/Objectives
The purpose of the OST Taskforce is to create a more robust menu of out-of-school time options to meet the overall health, academic and social/developmental needs of all K-5 students and families. This work will include recommendations for academic programs, enrichment and recreation opportunities, and childcare options.

About the Recommendations
The OST Taskforce generated the categories and ideas for program options (see attachment below) at its Nov. 4, 2019 meeting. At its next meeting on Dec. 2, 2019, the taskforce will refine the recommendations based on stakeholder feedback before sending them to Superintendent Osei.

District administrators will use the final recommendations to create several out-of-school time options based on interest level and budget capacity.

Please use ThoughtExchange (link below) to provide feedback on which program options you prefer as well as any ideas that you think might be missing from the current list of recommendations. Please note that this is a preliminary list of recommendations.

The ThoughExchange will be open for feedback from November 14-26, 2019 at

Children First Seeks New Executive Director

Children First, the first community-wide initiative in the country with a mission to engage adults in the promotion of the 40 developmental assets, is currently conducting a national search for its next Executive Director.

The Executive Director will understand the importance of leading from different vantage points and building social capital, and will balance the work of the initiative with the need to secure funding for its continued success.
