REMINDERS
Thanksgiving Holiday
November 25th - November 29th is Morning Star's Thanksgiving holiday. Classes resume on Monday, November 30th.
Sponsor a Teacher
2020 has been a difficult year for our teachers and staff, and everyone is working extremely hard to keep our students learning, both at school and at home. To help spread some holiday cheer an outing at Top Golf has been planned for our hard-working teachers and staff. We are asking for donations to be able to pay for the outing. Thank you to all who have already donated!

Non-Uniform Day
Friday, December 4th, will be a non-uniform day.
No Extended Day Care
Friday, December 18th, will be a full day of school and a non-uniform day. There will be no Extended Day.
Classroom Donations Needed
Due to shortage of paper towels, tissues, etc. at the beginning of the school year we did not add them to our school supply list. As the school year has progressed, we have used up our "extras" so we are asking for donations of the following items.

  • Paper towels
  • Sanitizing Wipes
  • Tissues
  • Sanitizer
  • Dry Erase Markers

Please drop off your donations in bins by the front office. Please remember to put your child's last name on any items donated so we can give you volunteer credit hours for your contributions.

GIVINGTUESDAY IS DECEMBER 1st
HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!
GIVINGTUESDAY is a global day of generosity. A fundraising day held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, GIVINGTUESDAY is on December 1st, 2020. Our goal? To raise $27,000 that day, which is a portion of the $180,000 required fundraising goal needed for the 2020-2021 school year.

If you have your own Facebook account, please make sure you like our page and share our GIVINGTUESDAY posts. Share our posts on your personal page. You don't need to ask for donations. Simply share the post with family and friends.

WE NEED YOUR TESTIMONIALS!
Why is Morning Star School special to you? We need testimonials, short videos and photos from our parents, students and family members! As we face a challenging year we want to make certain we share great success stories and fun videos and photos of our students. You can help by sending in your Morning Star story to Maria Johnson at development@morningstar-jax.org
PRIMARY NEWS
Students enjoyed making cages for their turkeys using mini marshmallows and toothpicks!
Students read the book Mouse Shapes by Ellen Stoll Walsh in which mice used different shapes to create pictures of other things. After reading the books students created their own pictures with colorful shapes.
INTERMEDIATE NEWS
Intermediate 1 learned all kinds of interesting facts and fictions about turkeys and Thanksgiving. Students were given cupcakes and ingredients to make their own turkey design. They also made turkey wreaths and paper plate turkeys. They are definitely ready for Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Franqui's class had the best time this week exploring and learning about vertebrates and invertebrates. They experimented with using food to make their own version. It was fun!
JUNIOR HIGH NEWS
Junior High 1 students use Legos to study the engineering design process. They planned, organized, built, and tested their designs. A big thank you to retired teacher Mrs. Barr for the donated individual sets.
Check out another one of Brandon's show & share videos. Pay close attention and you may recognize some Morning Star faces!
Ms. Hurst’s Civics class learned about how a bill is passed and becomes a law. Each student created their own bill about something to change regarding school and MSS. Students were then divided into the Senate and House of Representatives and voted. The students came up with some really neat ideas and suggestions... future Senators and Representatives in the making!
HIGH SCHOOL NEWS
Team Service students studying Shakespeare’s Macbeth crafted Elizabethan collars to sport whilst reading from this classical text.
