November is for Gratitude and Stewardship
Head's Note
A week ago, I was visiting classes at King’s Academy in Jordan and a student approached me to ask about Crossroads. (Yes, now many students in Jordan know about our school!) Spending time in a different location and within a different culture fosters new perspectives both for the place we travel and also for where we have come from. This student’s question allowed me to consider what I appreciated most about our school. My response: I am most proud of the way we combine a strong academic program with teaching and modeling our Core Virtues. In many instances, such as with intellectual honesty and perseverance, there is natural overlap. And together, Core Knowledge and Core Virtues skillfully combines these two important curricula to create a caring culture where students are inspired to learn. The Jordanian student seemed to like this answer and even expressed an interest in visiting Crossroads to see our school in action!

It was good to visit King’s Academy and help another school with their accreditation process. And it is great to be home, back at the school that I appreciate all the more for my time away.

Yours truly, Brad

Life of Pi
During the month of November, students in English 8 read Yann Martel's  Life of Pi.  As Pi falls in love with four faiths--Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam--the students read excerpts from the Bhagavad Gita, Torah, New Testament, and Quran.
