Maximizing the academic, social, and emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,
College Day Helps Middle School Students Think Towards Future
Today, Stratford Middle School hosted its first ever College Day for 8th grade students. The school partnered with Junior Achievement to welcome representatives from universities, community colleges, vocational schools, and other post-high school opportunities like the military.

The guests spoke with students about the paths and skills required for admittance to, and success in, the different post-secondary institutions, as well as resulting career opportunities.
Our middle schools have long hosted career days to help students think about their futures, but today focused more on opportunities for continuing education beyond high school. It's never too early to help students start to think about their futures. Jay Stream will hold their version of this event on December 14, and both schools will host career days for younger grade levels later this year.

Thank You to Custodians and
Buildings & Grounds Staff!
While students enjoyed a snow day on Monday, CCSD93's building custodians as well as our Buildings & Grounds staff members were hard at work ensuring that students and staff members would be able to safely make it to school on Tuesday.

Collectively, they spent hundreds of hours strenuously plowing, snow blowing, shoveling, salting, and more to prepare our facilities to safely open their doors for the next day of school. Please join me in thanking them for their tremendous efforts.
STEM Lab & Innovation Center
Receive Award of Distinction
Before Thanksgiving, at the statewide Joint Annual Conference, Stratford Middle School's STEM Lab & Innovation Center were awarded the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) Award of Distinction for excellence in the design of educational environments!

The spaces were designed in a collaboration between Stratford staff members, CCSD93 administrators, and architecture firm Arcon Associates. The award serves to affirm that these learning environments will help our educators to provide tremendous, relevant learning opportunities for students that will help to prepare them for the future. Here's an image of the project's architect, Board President Keith Briggs, and me accepting the award.
Please Take CCSD93's Satisfaction Survey

On Monday, we'll open our annual Satisfaction Survey and ask parents to take it by December 19. You'll receive a phone call, email, and text message about it on Monday, and then a couple reminder emails and texts throughout the next few weeks.

Please take 15-or-so minutes required to complete the survey. Your responses will help your child's school and CCSD93 as a whole improve programs and services.
