Join us for our Class Parent Coffee next week, Dec 6, 9:30 am at Cooper MS, Room 130. Please park and enter in the back of the school.

Our speaker, Hannah Wolff, LHS College and Career Specialist, will help parents understand what steps students should be taking now in the college process. You'll also hear updates from Principal Amico and from PTSA leadership. Can't make the coffee but have a question or topic you'd like addressed? Send it to, and we'll include the answer when we send our coffee recap to our parent GoogleGroup.

We're  still looking for volunteers to help with the coffee. If you'd like to help, visit our Class Sign-up Genius here

Have you bought tickets to the junior class dinner on Feb 27? You can confirm that at the Parent Coffee and if not, purchase them there.

Our Sophomore Class Dinner and Student Services Program will be Wed, Dec 13, 6:30-8:30 pm in the Langley Cafeteria. Catering is by Moby Dick, House of Kabob. Our program speakers (Hannah Wolff, LHS College and Career Specialist, and Lauren Wagner, George Mason University Admissions Office) will be sharing their perspectives on Best Fit colleges and what sophomores and their families can do now to help find and prepare for that Best Fit. The goal is to prompt family conversation over Winter Break and provide enhanced perspective for students and parents as they attend Curriculum Night on Jan 4 and complete Junior course selection shortly thereafter.

We still need volunteers the evening of our Class Dinner.  Sign up here if you can help.

a message from the president
I hope all your families had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

Tomorrow is the first day of December, always a busy month full of social gatherings and holiday activities. Consider avoiding the expense and stress of getting to the Kennedy and Verizon Centers during this time and enjoy the many events happening right here at Langley High School!

The season kicks off this weekend with the Choral Renaissance Feaste on Dec 1 and 2. On Dec 5 the Orchestra will be joined by our Russian students for a Russian-themed concert. Dec 7 is the Jazz Band concert and the Choral Concert will take place Dec 12. The season wraps up with the Winter Band Concert on Dec 14. Parking is free, it's a shorter commute than heading downtown, and all the seats are great!

Turning to the sports arena, a Varsity basketball double-header vs Marshall is scheduled on Fri, Dec 8 with the girls starting at 5:45 pm and the boys at 7:30 pm. For the full Winter sports schedule, including Basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Swim & Dive and Indoor Track, click here

We have so many talented students at Langley! I hope you will take advantage of all our community has to offer.

~ Jennifer Feinstein, LHS PTSA President

historic vmea performance
The Langley Wind Symphony gave a spectacular performance at the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) annual conference on Nov 17. The group masterfully performed 10 pieces, spanning a wide range of musical styles and genres.  Audience members, which included music teachers and students from throughout the state, were enthralled and visibly moved by the experience. Performances at this event are by invitation only, and the Wind Symphony earned this honor -- the first VMEA invitation in school history -- on the strength of their phenomenal Spring Assessment/Music for All performances last March. Links to videos of the VMEA performance can be found on the Langley Band website.
Congratulations to Mr. Martin, Ms. Singer, Mr. Harrington, and all the students in the Wind Symphony!
