Good day Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you for reading this far.
The search committee needs your prayers.
We have made some progress, still it remains an up-hill climb. One of the aspects of our church that I cherish is our ability to pivot. The part time posting did not produce many viable candidates. So with the guidance of Doug Shepler, our Classis Supervisor, and approval from Consistory, we changed gears and updated the posting to a full-time position in September. (Hint hint, send your proposed future giving to the church or Mary)
Everyone on the search committee is working hard to discern God’s will and takes this responsibility very seriously. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack in the dark and then switching haystacks.
We have interviewed several candidates when the position was listed as part time and a few are still interested in moving to the next round as a full-time pastor. We have a few more lined up to call for an interview along with a couple more applications to review. We are hoping to receive more completed applications in the near future.
We are happy to report that all the ministers we have interviewed were impressed with what our congregation has to offer, the top quality of our online services, and our commitment to being transparent on the website. It is clear, from their perspective, that we work well with what we have.
Even in this time of great uncertainty, (which we turned into an opportunity) with all the bumps, stalls, and pivots, the committee meets on zoom and stays in regular contact via email navigating towards our ultimate goal of recommending the best candidates to consistory.
