11 Cool Coaching Tips to Put the Blues in the Shade on Sunny Days – part 1

Hello Carole Ann,

Are you thinking you’re more poolside inflatable than beach body ready? Are you planning to better yourself over the summer months doing arm lifts of chardonnay? A lot of us see the summer months as a time of self-improvement but sun and socializing often soak up the months ahead.

Instead of sweating the big stuff get cool with the micro steps.

It’s the small things that lead to big changes as we incrementally grow, learn and develop the ability to be happier, more resilient and at peace with our one wild and crazy lives.

Put on your sunnies and get ready to shine.

Here are 11 tips to gain glory and put the blues in the shade this summer

  1. Notice what you are focusing on. Energy goes where our attention goes. Are you investing in bright futures or dark doom prospects?
  2. Know what makes you happy. Notice when you are. Write down the ingredients of your happiness cocktails. Imbibe daily.
  3. Set an intention for progress each day not matter how small. One less coffee, less social media, walking up stairs instead of taking the lift, reading a good book, clearing your inbox, decluttering your life.
  4. Let your dreams be bigger and more precious than your doubts.
  5. Stop giving uninvited advice. Be a listening ear. People love that.
  6. Do you have friends, family members or colleagues who seem ungrateful and unappreciative? Continue to give to them anyway.
  7. Find gratitude in any moment.
  8. When facing something unknown or fearful adopt the “spirit of curiosity” and step forward. Curiosity eliminates expectations and judgments and allows magic and possibility to flourish.
  9. Understand that every one of us is struggling with something. We all have fears, occasionally feel lonely or on our own and worry about the future.
  10. Actively smile more often. Offer your full beam to everyone you meet. Smiling is contagious. Pass it on.
  11. Give yourself credit for all you do every day. It’s a lot.
