11 Cool Coaching Tips to Put the Blues in the Shade on Sunny Days – part 2

Hello Carole Ann,

Welcome new subscribers and a nose rub to the 5000 plus subscribers who are on that journey to something better too.

Thanks for your great feedback on last week’s 11 Coaching Tips to Put the Blues in the Shade This Summer Part 1.

Here you will find Part 2. Feel free to double dip into this guacamole of good living tips and enjoy the coaching crudites to snack on.

Last week many of you particularly related to tip 6 which was:

Do you have friends, family members or colleagues who seem ungrateful and unappreciative? Continue to give to them anyway.

It’s often other people who cause us the most problems in life. The “I’m alright it’s just everyone else” sigh you may relate to. I will write a newsletter on this very subject soon.

In the meantime here is Part 2 of summer smoothies to keep you cool when meltdown beckons.

  1. See the past and all the ups and downs of it as a gentle wave behind you that is pushing you towards your future. It’s not drowning you or holding you back.  Surfs up!
  2. One person cannot fulfill all our needs, wants and desires. It’s too much to ask. Have a community of friends for composite “needs met”.
  3. Get that perfectionism can be a form of self-harm. The underlying message is “I/it is not good enough”. You are and it probably is.
  4. Stop controlling what you can’t control. It may make you feel safe but it’s a tissue paper bridge over Niagara Falls. It will never hold up. Step away from the control buffet!
  5. Sometimes it’s hard to forgive others but even harder to forgive ourselves. Show compassion to yourself for decisions and actions you were not proud of. The kinder you are to yourself the kinder you are to others.
  6. Take your dreams seriously. Give them attention, take action and truly believe in them. Dreams love that. If you don’t, they will sulkily sidle off to someone else who’s ready to write that book, start that business, create that wild thing – and, frankly, seeing other people run with it is just so annoying!
  7. Decide “will I regret not doing this?” before you say no to opportunity. Say “yes” then create a plan (and hire a coach).
  8. Ditch the feeling that something is always missing. Love what is.
  9. Guard your time, energy and peace fiercely. They are precious finite things not to be used up nor frittered by things or human Hoovers.
  10. Cherish people who have helped you, believed in you or were there for you in a dark time. These are the earth angels who saw the best in you and guided you when you needed it – honour them.
  11. The boring reality is if you want things to get better you must put in the reps. It is uncomfortable and painful but it’s that simple. All the good stuff lays beyond the comfort zone.
