Draft Board Strategic Timeline for Long-Range Planning
Since 2011 North Shore School District 112 has been in a transition phase. Through
budget deficit reduction 1, 2, and 3, through SFAC, SFFAC, 2.0, the failed referendum
campaign in 2016, and more recently through the Superintendent’s Long-Range
Planning Committee.

While we’re moving out of transition and into action with the Long-Range Plan Phase I historic approval in November 2018, there is still much work left to be planned and
Executed. The last Board Strategic Timeline was established in November 2017 and with the recent gains in operation, maintenance, leadership, governance, and progress inside and outside of our classrooms, the administration has submitted this Draft Board Strategic Timeline for Board and community review and reaction as we contemplate the future of our school district.

5-Year Financial Projections Update
At the January 15, 2019, Finance Committee, the administration presented a Financial Projection Update. Based on the debt payment schedule of the issuance of the General Obligation Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), the known staff retirements (through fiscal year 2024), and the draw schedule for the $75 million construction at Northwood and Edgewood Middle Schools, the administration presented an update of the 5-Year Financial Projections as of Tuesday’s meeting.

Student Fees for 2019-2020 Update
At Tuesday’s meeting, the administration presented proposed student fees for the next school year. The student fees are determined by the Board of Education to support the services of students, beyond the funding that the district receives from local state and federal sources. As per our Board Policy, the student fees are approved annually. The administration is recommending that the fees not be increased for the 2019-2020 school year. The Board gave direction to investigate a possible reduction in tuition cost for the district’s Full-Day Kindergarten (FDK) program. The fees will be presented for approval at the April 16, 2019 meeting.

On Tuesday, the Board approved the hiring of Rachel Filippi as Sherwood Elementary School Principal effective July 1, 2019. Mrs. Filippi currently serves as Principal of McKenzie Elementary School in Wilmette Public Schools District 39.
