The Benefit Funds Expand Wellness Benefits with Noom Partnership

Coming later this month, the Benefit Funds will expand their “The Choice Is Yours” menu of program options by partnering with Noom, another leading weight-management platform. 1199SEIU members and their adult dependents (18+) will be able to use Noom’s full program to manage weight and build sustainable lifestyle habits at their own pace. Administered by Noom, the program supports members in achieving their health goals through psychology-based lessons, fitness videos, recipes, meditations and supportive peer groups. Members can also work one-on-one with coaches to create a personalized plan to support their health using innovative tools like AI-powered photo food logging and 3D body scan technology. And, like WeightWatchers®, Noom also supports members on GLP1s with their nutritional needs. Members may check our Healthy Living Resource Center later this month at www.1199SEIUBenefits.org/healthyeating for more information and a sign-up link.

Career Pathways Training Program Graduates Are Ready to Pay It Forward

The Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program prepares graduates to enter healthcare professions—and give back to others. Pearl Klein is pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Yeshiva University to better serve her community. “I had been dreaming of getting another master’s degree in social work so that I can use my knowledge and multiple perspectives to help even more people and families,” she said. That goal seemed out of reach to Pearl, who was still paying off her first student loan, until she enrolled in the CPT Program. “I truly hope to pay it forward one day and use my new skill set to make a positive difference in the world,” she said.

To hire CPT graduates, healthcare employers must complete a provider attestation form. If you have full-time job vacancies and wish to receive referrals of CPT graduates, please fill out our vacancy submission form. For more information, visit the CPT Program website.

Child Care Funds’ Holiday Sleep-Away Programs Earn High Praise from Members

The Child Care Funds (CCF) held their Holiday Sleep-Away Program (HSAP) from February 16 to February 20 and their Teen Holiday Sleep-Away Program (T-HSAP) from February 14 to February 20. A total of 79 children attended HSAP for youth ages 8 to 13, while 47 teenagers attended T-HSAP for youth ages 14 to 17. Both programs were operated by Hands In 4 Youth, the home of Camp Vacamas, in West Milford, New Jersey. Participants took part in activities that ranged from team sports, robotics, games, and arts and crafts to nature exploration and big brother/big sister mentorships between T-HSAP and HSAP campers. Among 1199SEIU members responding to a satisfaction survey, 91 percent said their child liked or loved their camp experience, 95 percent said the program had a positive impact on their child and 91 percent said they are likely or extremely likely to apply again.

For more information about HSAP and T-HSAP, members can visit the CCF website or email HSAP@1199Funds.org.
