FlyteHealth Benefit Offers a New Approach to Health Management | |
Effective this month, the Benefit Funds will offer a comprehensive health-management program, in partnership with FlyteHealth, for eligible members and their adult dependents. FlyteHealth physicians, nurse practitioners and registered dietitians connect with participants to help them manage chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, as well as support weight loss. Using the FlyteHealth patient mobile app, participants meet with a doctor to develop a personalized treatment plan with regular check-ins to monitor progress. Each plan is based on the participant’s health history, genetics and willingness to make lifestyle changes.
To qualify, members and their adult dependents must:
- Receive medical coverage and prescription drug coverage through the Benefit Funds*
- Have a current or previous body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or have a current or previous BMI of 27 or higher in addition to a related health condition
- Reside in the United States
The Benefit Funds will notify members when enrollment begins.
*Excluding Rochester and Greater New York-New Jersey
| | Pension Funds Begin 2025 Pension Verification Program | | The Pension Funds have launched their 2025 Pension Verification Program, again conducted by HMS, a firm that specializes in benefit information verification. The program will verify pension information for 1199SEIU retirees ages 65 and up and their designated beneficiaries to protect benefit dollars and ensure that members and their beneficiaries continue to receive the pension they have earned. | | Training and Employment Funds’ CPT Program Continues Recruitment Efforts | |
The demand for healthcare professionals has never been greater. The Career Pathways Training (CPT) program was established to enable New Yorkers to further their education, advance their careers and make a meaningful impact in their communities—all at no cost to them or their employers.
The CPT Program is offered by the New York State Workforce Investment Organization, hosted by the Training and Employment Funds (TEF), in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Serving participants from New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley, the CPT program empowers healthcare workers to overcome educational hurdles, supporting them as they build sustainable, rewarding careers in healthcare by providing:
-
Access to education – CPT covers the full cost of training and certification programs and book stipends, eliminating financial barriers that might prevent workers from pursuing advanced roles in critical shortage areas like nursing, pharmacy tech, respiratory therapy and other high-demand occupations. In select occupations, the CPT benefits and resources are significantly higher than benefits available from the Training and Upgrading Fund.
-
Increased job security – Enhances employability by equipping workers with recognized qualifications, making them more competitive in the job market and meeting employer demand in occupations with acute workforce shortages.
-
Economic mobility – Supports long-term financial stability by helping workers secure roles with higher wages.
-
Improved patient care – Equipping workers with advanced training ensures better outcomes for patients, contributing to overall healthcare quality.

| | Child Care Funds’ Holiday Sleep-Away Programs a Hit with Members |
The Child Care Funds (CCF) held their Holiday Sleep-Away Program (HSAP) from February 17 to February 21, while the Teen Holiday Sleep-Away Program (T-HSAP) ran from February 15 to February 21. A total of 86 children attended HSAP, which serves youth ages 8 to 13, and 33 teenagers attended T-HSAP, which serves youth ages 14 to 17.
Campers took part in low ropes challenge courses, maple syruping, robotics, games, team sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, movie night, and big brother/big sister mentorships between the HSAP and T-HSAP participants. Both programs were operated by Hands In 4 Youth, the home of Camp Vacamas, in West Milford, New Jersey. Of the members responding to the HSAP and T-HSAP Winter Session Satisfaction Survey, 84 percent said the program had a positive impact on their child. In addition, 68 percent said they were likely or extremely likely to apply for the program again. “My child thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” said one member, “and can’t wait to return in the spring.” For more information about HSAP and T-HSAP, members can visit CCFs’ website or email HSAP@1199Funds.org.
