Bosley Park
As I have mentioned previously, I have secured $1.4 million in TIF funds for the renovation of Bosley Park.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The Park District will host summer activities at Bosley and construction will begin shortly after programming ends.
In addition to new playground equipment, the renovation includes a new artificial turf soccer field, basketball court repaving, and spray pool features.

McGuane Park Ribbon Cutting
I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the neighbors that came out to McGuane Park’s ribbon cutting!
McGuane Park’s nearly 6 Million dollar TIF funded renovation is finally complete. The facilities have been modernized and become ADA accessible. This translates to a newly renovated lobby and community rooms on the first floor. The second floor has also been renovated with new community rooms and window installations. Additionally, an elevator has been installed making the building ADA accessible. Please tour around the new fieldhouse when you have the chance!
Donovan Park Announcement:
Alderman Thompson is happy to announce the acquisition of the parcel of land at 837 West 36th Street, for the expansion of Donovan Park. This is the corner parcel, east of the park on the corner of 36th and Lituanica. This purchase was made possible by my allocation of Open Space Impact Fees and Menu Funding.
Furthermore, I have allocated about $900,000 of TIF funds to clean this site as the first step in expanding Donovan Park and the construction of a new field house.
Donovan Park currently has a small field house and is 2.98 acres. Donovan Park, originally Sangamon Park, was established by the Chicago’s Bureau of Parks and Recreation and was sitting on Board of Education property. In 1957, Sangamon Park was renamed to honor Engine 29 Captain George L. Donovan. Donovan lost his life (March 1st, 1957) in the line of duty with two other firefighters.
“I am excited about the long-overdue expansion of Donovan Park. I am eager to meet with our many neighbors and constituents to discuss design elements of the park expansion project,” Thompson said.
