Brunch Church is Sunday January 4
Sunday, 1/4, at 10:30 a.m. | One Service Only
| We need volunteers to help us create a beautiful welcoming Brunch Church event on 1/4: cooks to bring in a dish prepared at home, a set-up team, and cleanup folks. A favorite Epiphany event at First Cong, Brunch Church brings us to Plymouth Hall to worship together around a shared meal of cinnamon rolls, baked frittatas, and fruit. We need your help to make it happen by baking the egg casseroles (easy recipe provided), bringing a fruit bowl, arranging tables, chairs, and place settings, or cleaning up afterwards. (Rolls and GF pastries will be made by Brunch Church coordinators.) Go now to our Sign-Up page to join the team. | | | | |

The Narrative Project
Reading Circles Forming Now
| Two stories dominate American Christianity: one of decline, another of power yoked to nationalist extremism. The Narrative Project of The Christian Century magazine makes space for a truer telling – stories of faith that are alive, generous, and rooted in love. Our congregation has been selected to join churches nationwide in monthly reading circles beginning late January or early February. Together we will read, meet in small groups, and reflect on our faith. Participants receive a one-year subscription to The Christian Century. Interested in being part of a group? | | | | |
Preparing the Ground: Conversations
Toward Nonviolent Change and Public Faith
3-Part Study Series | Tue, 1/6, 1/20, 2/3, 6:30-8:00 p.m. | Plymouth Hall
| Before Dr. Erica Chenoweth, author of Civil Resistance, joins us on February 13–14 as our MacKenzie Lecturer, we’ll gather for three evenings of shared inquiry and moral imagination. Together we’ll explore Chenoweth’s groundbreaking research on nonviolent movements and the courage they require. How does change take root? What does faithful public action look like now? Readings, brief videos, and guided conversation will prepare the ground. Register to participate and receive reading assignments. | | During the Christmas Season and EVERYDAY, the Mental Health Ministry wants to remind you… | | | | |
