Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Stratford 7th Graders Think About Future During Career Day
On Tuesday I was able to stop by Stratford Middle School for their Career Day event for the school's 7th graders. After a keynote, students visited their choice of four out of about a dozen professionals who were on hand representing a wide variety of potential careers.

Among the presenters were an engineer, insurance agent, agriculturist, veterinarian, medical device designer, program manager, firefighter, police officer, software engineer, 9-1-1 dispatcher, a professional bagpiper, and more.
The 7th graders learned in great detail about the presenters' jobs, what their interests were in school, the requirements for their position, and how they got where they are today. Students were able to ask questions and really begin to consider in a very tangible way where their interests and pursuits could lead.

I thank Stratford's administration and our partners at Junior Achievement for their work on the program. Next week, they'll hold a College Day for 8th graders to start thinking about a wide variety of options after high school. Jay Stream will hold College and Career Days for students after winter break.

This type of event is a critical component of meeting our primary Strategic Goal of providing a relevant education for all students, and it's crucial for preparing them to think realistically about college and careers.
Please be sure to read the following articles to stay up to date with the latest news and notes from CCSD93, and have a terrific weekend!

Middle School Boys Basketball
& Cheerleading on the Big Stage at GBN
Today, the Jay Stream and Stratford boys basketball 7th grade and 8th grade teams squared off at Glenbard North as the cheerleading squads cheered on the action. The students enjoyed a great opportunity to compete on the courts they'll share as Panthers in coming years. Here are highlights of the action.
