'Tis the Season
Little Brass Band and a Visit from Old St. Nick
Although a few showers are forecast for Saturday, temps will be nearing fifty degrees! And with Christmas just 10 days away we won't let a little wacky weather stand in our way.

Come enjoy the Little Brass Band from 11am - 1pm, and a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick! Santa will be busy handing out free gifts to all the kids - a hand-illustrated collectible Easton Coloring book, crayons, and a free day pass to Crayola Experience! Bring your kids or your pooch and snap a photo with the big guy. At 12 Noon Santa will be pulling the lucky ticket and announcing the winner of a Martin Guitar! So don your slicker and come hang with us in the circle, and shop small - we guarantee that you'll leave filled with holiday spirit!

Check out our list of participating vendors HERE.

Thank you to Pete Boccadoro for the beautiful photo of The Little Brass Band.

Warming Winter Recipes
Butter Braised Radishes & Radish Greens
It's winter time folks, and if you're going to commit to eating seasonally, it's time to get creative! Cooking radishes brings out a surprisingly sweet flavor. Combined with farro, feta, and fresh parsley this is a soul satisfying winter dish.

Red radishes are packed with Vitamins E, A, C, B6, and K. Plus they're high in antioxidants, fiber, zinc, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, copper, calcium, iron and manganese.

Pickle Soup Update
I promised to report back on my experience making Pickle Soup with dill pickles from Jersey Pickles. I'm pleased to report that it was a big success - creamy and delicious (see photo)! I used chicken stock from Apple Ridge Farm, and left out the salt because the pickles provided plenty of saltiness. If you're vegetarian, you could certainly opt to use vegetable broth. I also opted to use half the flour because the potatoes served as a thickener. I was pleased to see many folks at the market purchasing pickles to make the soup! EFM volunteer Jenne Hogan reported a tasty outcome with her soup as well. If you'd like to try it, the recipe is below.

Stagecoach Apiaries
Honey keeps you Healthy
Area farmers will tell you that Pete Sliwka, aka Honeyman is one of (if not the) hardest working men in the business. Known throughout PA and Upstate New York, folks swear by Pete's raw honey. Bee Keeping is a tough business and and many of the veteran bee keepers have passed on or retired. And the younger bee keepers don't manage nearly the number of hives that Pete does. He's still going strong and committed to his bees and his loyal customers. Stop by and stock up this weekend or purchase some jars for gifts. Pete's always ready to answer all your questions too!

Scholl Orchards
All the fixins for winter soups & stews
Scholl's has plenty of potatoes, carrots and onions for all your winter soups and stews, and ginormous super sweet beets for roasting. Look for lots of winter squash, including spaghetti, butternut and acorn and humongous heads of cabbage for stuffed cabbage, cabbage & noodles, or healthy slaws. Did you ever try slicing cabbage, tossing in olive oil and S&P and roasting on a cookie sheet? So simple, but so good!

And of course you'll find an array of apples for your holiday baking or eating. And the pears are a lovely addition to cheese plates. Scholl's continues to press fresh cider so pick up a gallon for mulling.

Grab some of their jarred items for gift baskets or ask them to create a gift box for you (great teacher gift). Choose from fruit butters, applesauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, hot sauces, and more. A collection of hot sauces is a great gift for guys... just sayin'!
