Yuyuan Garden
Lantern Show in Paris
The 2024 China-France Year of Culture and Tourism has been officially launched with the debut of the renowned Yuyuan Garden Lantern Show in Paris. The opening ceremony, held on Wednesday, was attended by Lu Shaye, the Chinese ambassador to France, who highlighted the exquisite elements of traditional Chinese culture showcased in the displays. The lantern show, featuring around 60 lantern sets and over 2,000 lanterns shipped from China, was opened to the public on Friday night at the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris. This event marks the start of a year of high-quality cultural exchange activities between China and France.
To inject greater vitality into cultural exchanges and yield more substantial results, China and France will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year. To mark the occasion, China is introducing a visa-free policy for six countries, including France, and a cut in visa fees for many others. Chinese Ambassador Lu Shaye extended an open invitation to all, encouraging people to visit China to explore its wonders and deepen their understanding of the country. Additionally, 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, and dragon elements will feature prominently in a show that will last until Feb 25, spanning across major Eastern and Western holidays such as Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival, and Lantern Festival.
