About the Program - Petalumans of Yesteryear
A time to celebrate pride of PWC membership!

The Petalumans of Yesteryear are a committee of The Petaluma Historical Library and Museum. Through costumed members, they bring to life the history and stories of the people who built and influenced Petaluma in the early years of its development.

A highlight of the festivities at the Petaluma Woman’s Club 125th Gala will be a presentation by The Petalumans of Yesteryear as they share stories and historic moments from the club's past.

You will be guided through the presentation by past president Nellie Denman, mistress of ceremonies, who served as an early president three times: 1903-1904, 1910-1912 & 1919-1920. Ida Belle McNear, the first president of the club, 1865-1900, Susan Whitney a faithful member, Clara Belle Ivancovich, past president 1917-1918, who along with her husband served for many years in times of war and civil change. Josie Hill, will also make an appearance. Josie was responsible for donating land for the clubhouse on Washington Street.

You will hear a song written by Clara Belle Ivancovich, written for the San Francisco Federation of Woman’s Clubs. The song will be performed by Pam Sommer who wrote the score to the words, and Dr. Homer Johnstone University Professor and Brigadier General US Army Retired and member of Petalumans of Yesteryear.

You will hear about members who are part of multiple generations that have impacted the club over time. Cheryl Coldiron a 4th generation member and Kerry Mahoney Davison, a 3rd generation member, will give you a look into the lives of their families, as they enjoyed membership through wartime, modernization and social changes for women.
