Community Tribute to Mary Alice Jervay Thatch; Edtior of Wilmington's oldest Black publication. The Historic Wilmington Journal is located across the street from where "The Daily Record" (the first Black daily publication) stood before it was burned down by white supremacists in 1898. The Wilmington Journal was established years later without fear or favor.


Tribute will be rendered from national, state and local leaders including the descandants of 1898.. The mistress of ceremony will be Frances Weller. Program will also feature local artists including Sol Tee Reign".
