DELAWARE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE
HEALTH CARE HEROES OF TOMORROW

If there is anything the last few years has taught us, it is the importance of good health care workers. Delaware hospitals, doctors’ offices, and long-term care facilities are constantly seeking people to fill jobs to meet increased demand. Local hospital systems approached Delaware Technical Community College about the problems they were facing, and the Patient Care Assistant High School Pathway Program was created in response. "This program helps by increasing opportunities for students to make a sustainable wage as they develop their health care careers, either through upskilling in a current position or stacking certifications to progress into a new career field after graduation." - Dr. Paul T. 13 LEGISLATIVE DAYS REMAIN

Today ends the first of two weeks in which the General Assembly is on break for Joint Finance markup. They’ll return to session on Tuesday, June 6, a day before the State Chamber’s End-Of-Session Policy Conference. When the General Assembly returns, there will be 13 legislative days remaining, and there are many bills they're still working through. Six such bills include HB101 – 104 (Ready in 6 package), HB154 (Delaware Personal Data Privacy Act), and HB99 (Delaware Climate Change Solutions Act), all of which will be discussed at our conference on June 7.

MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIR
NICK LAMBROW | M&T BANK

An important component to the overall success of the Delaware State Chamber each year is the work done by our policy committees. I think of them as spokes on a wheel—providing critical support and connection for the entire organization.

I see it as an invaluable member benefit and a two-way relationship between the member organization and the State Chamber. These committees serve as a vital resource to the Chamber as the organization reacts and responds to proposed legislation and policies. They also exist as a platform for the business community to stay up to date on bill introductions and amendments as they happen in real time. You become part of the process >

Several State Chamber members who are part of our Delaware Retail Council held corporate earnings calls last week, and others like Best Buy and Lowe’s will do similarly this week. CNBC detailed five takeaways about the consumer in a story that continues to evolve. Last week, Walmart, Home Depot, and Target offered up the latest clues about current consumer behavior. Read more >
