Above: Channel 5 report on third BHW plaque of 2019 for Emma Clarke; first black female professional footballer (1895)

In 2019 Black History Walks fund-raised for and unveiled three historic Nubian Jak plaques to highlight outstanding African/Caribbean people. Dr Harold Moody, Phyliss Wheatley and Emma Clarke were all honoured. Due to racism, there is a severe lack of plaques featuring Black people. Following the principles of Marcus Garvey ,Black History Walks is currently working on plaques for Martin Luther King, Baron Baker, Toto Bags,James Baldwin,Dick Gregory, The Caribbean Artists Movement ,the Fisk Jubilee Singers and Bill Richmond. If you would like to sponsor a plaque, contact [email protected]
