Celebrating 15 Years of Second Chances!
Hi everyone,

What a great way to celebrate our 15th Anniversary: a thriving program at the Theo Lacy County Jail Facility in Orange, relaunching the program at OC Probation - Juvenile Hall after a long pause due to the pandemic, multiple service dogs in training, ESA evaluation program, and a growing network of shelter and rescue group partnerships!

We are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished, despite lots of challenges, and are very excited about the promise of more new programs and opportunities in the future!

As usual, it is also time for our annual Giving Tuesday Fundraiser. We love what we do and would greatly appreciate your support during this important annual event. Every act of generosity counts! Please mark your calendars or donate now.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Janette Thomas, Executive Director
Here's a snapshot of our current program activities:
OC Probation – Juvenile Hall

The first group of new canine training candidates arrived at Juvenile Hall last weekend and were welcomed by a very enthusiastic group of young men. One exclaimed “this is better than Christmas” as 3 fuzzy faces entered their housing unit. Within an hour after arriving, all the dogs were settling in nicely, and getting ready for their first weekend in their new home.

The dogs will be ready for their “furever” homes in 8-10 weeks. Please go to https://www.celldogs.org/adopt-a-dog if you would like more information or an adoption application.

The program celebrated its 1st Anniversary with the recent graduation of its fourth training cycle. The dogs for this program, have ranged in size from “tiny but mighty” to “large and lovable".” The next training cycle begins November 10th.

The program and the dogs have been so popular that all the dogs from the first two training cycles were lovingly adopted by deputies or members of the facility medical staff. They have the opportunity to watch the progress being made and often submit their adoption applications within a few weeks of the dogs arriving. Their enthusiasm for the program is very much appreciated!

Service Dog Program

Our service dog program is very busy these days. Thanks to our growing referral network, we often evaluate some potential service dog candidates who were languishing in backyards, desperate for attention and something to do. They love to work and thrive in our program.

Kasey and Tahoe are our newest additions. They now have a purpose and are making great progress with daily public outings and exercise.

If you or anyone you know is in need of a service dog, please contact us at: info@celldogs.org.

Your support of Giving Tuesday makes it possible for us to rescue and train amazing shelter dogs, run our training programs and train service dogs for veterans and first responders at NO COST to the clients or correctional facilities. This is not small feat, especially during this time of ever increasing costs for all supplies and services.

If you, or someone you know, has lovingly adopted one of our dogs, is the beneficiary of the unconditional love and support of one of our service dogs, or loves what we do, we would be very grateful for our support during this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign which takes place on Tuesday, November 29th.
